Chapter 686

They were startled by Skylar’s sudden awakening. Hadn't she been unconscious?

“She’s woken up at the perfect time,” one said. “She was gorgeous enough with her eyes closed. With her eyes open, she’s even more beautiful than any actress I’ve seen.”

“Stop talking,” another hissed. “I can’t hold myself back anymore.”

Their eyes glinted menacingly beneath their masks. They regarded Skylar as prey, their confidence betraying a belief that they would succeed.

“Do you know who I am?” Skylar asked, her voice remarkably calm. She showed no panic.

Anyone else would have been terrified, begging for mercy. But this stunning woman, appearing no older than twenty-three, maintained such composure that she might have been inquiring about the weather.

Their lust momentarily faltered. They glanced at a man behind the camera, his face obscured by a hat and mask. He said, “You’ve played with all kinds of women. Destroy her. Would she tell others about what happened? We’ve got footage of it. She wouldn’t have the guts to talk about it. Don’t worry.”

He was right. Skylar felt intensely nervous, but she fought to remain calm. Testing the waters, she said, “I can guess who asked you to abduct me. The people around me probably know as well.”

“This woman is acting weirdly,” one man observed, concern edging into his voice. Her unnerving calm unsettled them; they’d never encountered such a situation. Their lust warred with a growing unease.

Skylar sighed quietly. “The man who hired you didn’t tell you my husband is Joe Martin, did he?”

The mention of the name jolted the masked man behind the camera.

“Joe Martin?”

A heavy silence descended upon the gigantic warehouse.

Chapter 636

He couldn’t contain himself, making a frantic call. “Why didn’t you tell me Skylar’s husband is Joe? Didn’t you say she was the daughter of a fallen wealthy family?”

He'd investigated her, discovering her connection to the Williams family, whose reputation lay in ruins. Targeting a woman like her should have held no consequence. However, she was Joe's wife—making this a suicidal proposition.

The men stared at him intently. His mood darkened. He roared, “How could you possibly say that it makes no difference? You’re trying to get us killed!”

Skylar, subtly observing, gleaned crucial information. Someone had orchestrated her kidnapping. Who?

She’d surveyed her surroundings: an abandoned warehouse, a large bed the only furnishing in the room, glaring lights, and cameras. This was a meticulously planned abduction. The effort to humiliate her implied more than a simple kidnapping.

Who hated her this much? Had her presence disrupted someone’s plans? Skylar’s mind raced.
