Steven still looked grim. "Did that man buy this car for you?"

Skylar was so young. How could she live with a random man? The thought of her heartbreak because of Christopher ached in Steven's heart. He couldn't suppress the urge to beat Christopher.

"I bought it myself," Skylar said. "Our family's life will improve from now on."

Steven frowned. New energy vehicles like that probably cost over ten thousand dollars. Skylar had been doing restoration work and could earn some money.

"Are you living with him?"

"Yes, at his place," Skylar said, looking ahead at the bustling traffic. A weight lifted off her chest.

Steven fell silent for thirty minutes. As they neared his staff dormitory, he finally spoke. "Skye, let me meet him."

"I'll arrange it later," Skylar said. "But don't tell Mom and Peter about my marriage yet. They'll worry."

Hesitation flashed in Skylar's eyes. Joe probably wouldn't agree to meet her family. She knew her relationship with Joe was only a paper agreement.

When the car stopped, Steven sighed heavily. "Does he treat you well?"

"Yes, but he's a bit aloof," Skylar said carefully.

"Aloofness isn't always bad," Steven said, relieved. "It's better than Christopher's sweet talk."

Still worried, he said as he got out of the car, "Skye, tell me if anything happens."

"I will," Skylar replied obediently.

Christopher vigorously scratched his messed-up hair, reading endless online rumors at home. He nearly crushed his phone. Maisy said they were trying to figure things out. He deeply regretted issuing any statements; tens of thousands of comments cursed him. Although the Williams family's suppression had lessened the buzz, he'd been fired.

Suddenly, Amelia called. "Chris, is the online gossip true? Are you dating Maisy?"

Christopher's eyes were bloodshot. "Mom, we're not dating."

"I remember you saying that although Skylar returned to her biological family, they prefer Maisy," Amelia said.

"Yes, I'm frustrated. Can I talk tomorrow at the hospital?" Christopher scratched his head.

Amelia said, "Since Skylar is ungrateful and exposed you online, date Maisy. Get into the Williams company. Become their son-in-law. With your abilities, you'll eventually own the company."

Amelia had high expectations for Christopher. A glimmer of hope appeared in his bloodshot eyes. "You reminded me"

Skylar returned to Galaxy Villa at 10:00 p.m. The lights were on; Joe had returned early. She saw him sitting on the couch with a steaming cup of herbal tea. A faint scent of herbs filled the air.
