Over the past few days, Skylar had received numerous scar creams from Gloria and others. To maximize their effectiveness, they even arranged consultations with cosmetic surgeons abroad. In reality, with proper care, the scars were unlikely to be permanent.

After Joe dropped her off at Galaxy Villa, he hurried to Martin Group. Following a quick unpacking, Skylar called Janine. Their discussion of the store's recent performance was met with shared excitement over the unexpected revenue. Skylar seized the opportunity to inspire Janine to think creatively, offering several ideas to propel the business forward. Once her injuries healed, she planned to begin live streaming, helping ordinary people avoid pitfalls and gather information about those spreading negativity around Jipsburg.

After speaking with Janine, she called Steven. Although Steven had been extremely busy lately, his industry reputation was growing, and his research was gaining prominence. Just as she was about to call Charles, Natalie called.

“Skye, I just got divorced,” Natalie announced.

A weight settled in Skylar's chest. “Jeremy agreed?”

Skylar had assumed Jeremy would be difficult; Natalie had mentioned his stubbornness only days before.

“Yes, we met at home yesterday, with both our parents present, and he finally agreed. We just left the courthouse. Skye, I’m feeling overwhelmed,” Natalie said, her voice trembling. The divorce decree felt like a denial of everything she and Jeremy had shared. Though Natalie had mentally prepared, the separation still felt painfully final.

Words failed Skylar. Natalie must have already received plenty of well-meaning advice. Skylar struggled to find something new to say.

“Where are you? I’ll come keep you company,” she offered.

Natalie replied, “I have work tonight. Austin is attending an award ceremony, and I must go. Now that Jeremy isn’t financially supporting me, I have to focus on proving myself through my work. Take good care of yourself, and avoid getting any scars, okay? Don’t worry about me. I made the decision to divorce Jeremy the day I learned about his affair. Talking to you has lifted a weight from my heart.”

“Don’t worry. I’ll take care of myself. You take care too,” Skylar said.

“Alright, I’m hanging up. I’m almost at the venue,” Natalie said.

After ending the call, Skylar sat quietly, lost in thought. Shortly after, Joe called. “Edgar is bringing dinner tonight. Stay in bed and rest. No moving around.”

“My injuries are mostly healed. They’re not a problem,” Skylar said. She was growing restless after days of bed rest. The most troublesome were the cuts on her hands; it would take about a month before she could resume work. Having so much unexpected free time was beginning to drive her stir-crazy.

Joe’s voice deepened slightly. “Be good.”

“Alright, I’ll stay in bed and rest,” Skylar relented.

Perhaps sensing her boredom, Joe suggested, “How about we see a movie after dinner?”

Skylar’s eyes lit up. “Yes, that sounds great!”

After the call ended, Joe summoned Paul to his office.

“Check what new movies are out and book two tickets,” Joe instructed.

Paul agreed and quickly checked the options. “How about a romantic film? Or there’s a suspense movie, but it might be too intense for Mrs. Martin. The romantic one seems perfect for newlyweds.”

When Joe heard the movie was suitable for newlyweds, he paused.
