Charles ignored Freddie’s earlier questions, answering only the last with, “I’ll prepare a few flavors, so he has some options.”
“No, this isn’t about flavors. Is he really Joe Martin?” Freddie felt as though he were in a dream. Hadn’t Charles said he wasn’t from a powerful family? He’d acted in many films but remained a D-list actor, even after all these years. When had he met Joe?
“Yeah,” Charles replied dismissively.
He selected a pasta of every flavor from his well-stocked cupboard. Freddie stood by the kitchen door, watching the living room. Once alone with Skylar, Joe’s icy expression melted. Freddie couldn’t hear their conversation, but Skylar’s words clearly improved his mood. Magic. This had to be magic! A man Freddie only knew from the news was now his managed actor’s brother-in-law.
Skylar glanced at her phone. Natalie had sent videos of people defending Charles, revealing Felicia’s true colors and exposing it as a pattern, not an isolated incident. Dozens were speaking out.
“Skylar, I’d forgotten Joe is your husband. Nobody can touch the Martin Group’s PR team; they’re incredible! Mr. Powell commented that finding all these people in a single day was an impossible feat, unprecedented in his experience. How impressive.”
After replying to Natalie, Skylar looked at Joe and said, “Sorry for the inconvenience, but thank you anyway.”
Joe’s eyes darkened at her courtesy. Everyone was astounded by the turn of events; they hadn't anticipated such a plot twist. Several celebrities who'd mysteriously disappeared from the public eye explained their absence, detailing Felicia’s bullying.
New information surfaced constantly; one video ended before another began. Charles, initially the center of the storm, was no longer the primary focus. However, many of Felicia’s fans remained loyal, and many waited for Charles’s response.
Yet, the number of people coming forward increased exponentially. Some brands that had announced ending their partnerships with Charles deleted their announcements. The situation was unclear.
Then, Charles posted a story detailing the events, requesting videos and photos as evidence to refute the accusations and promising legal action against those who’d secretly filmed them.
Charles’s strongly worded post completely shifted public opinion. Everyone commented on Felicia’s post, questioning her actions. Her PR team worked overtime.
Finally, Adele said helplessly, “The Martin Group’s PR team retaliated, supported by a lawyer and those speaking out. Even hiring influencers wouldn’t help.”
By 8:00 PM, the tables had turned. Felicia, pale, asked, “Are you sure it’s the Martin Group’s PR team? Why would they involve themselves in entertainment?”
Adele admitted, “We don’t know, Ms. Ingram. Many brands are breaking contracts with you. The situation is dire. Prepare for the worst, Ms. Ingram.”
They were unsure of the situation's intricacies, but Adele knew. Her predictions had come true.
“Skylar’s incredibly capable,” Adele exclaimed.
Felicia bit her lip. “I have Rowan and Mr. Ziegler’s numbers. I’ll ask them to arrange a meeting with Joe. Perhaps he’ll stop helping Charles and Skylar after seeing me.”
