“Why have you sought me out?” Jenny asked coldly. She knew what had happened to Felicia that morning; the industry buzzed with gossip. By nightfall, Felicia had become the target of ridicule. Jenny considered herself no fool; she easily understood why Felicia had called.

Felicia said, “I need your help. Will you vouch for me with Mr. Martin? I didn’t realize Charles was related to Skylar. I offended him unintentionally. It was my mistake. I hope Mr. Martin will give me a second chance.”

Jenny chuckled lightly. “How important do you think Skylar is to Joe?”

“This incident shows Skylar is important to him. However, I doubt Mr. Martin values her as highly as he values you,” Felicia replied, guessing this was what Jenny wanted to hear. Women understood each other well. Another woman in Joe’s life was undoubtedly detrimental to Jenny. Why else would she allow rumors about her and Joe to spread? If Felicia hadn’t faced this situation, she wouldn't have endured this humiliating conversation.

Felicia’s guess proved correct. At the mention of Skylar’s name, Jenny’s face contorted with jealousy. Only Jenny and some of the Martins knew Joe and Skylar were married. Did this mean Joe didn't care for Skylar as much as she thought?

“Don’t be absurd. Joe raised me. Our relationship is nothing like the rumors suggest. As for your request, it’s futile. Joe’s decisions are irreversible. Appealing to Skylar for mercy would be more effective. However, I believe you've seriously wronged her. The Ingrams are powerful; you needn't submit to Skylar. I’m very busy. Goodbye.”

Enraged, Felicia hurled her phone across the room. “She’s just a nanny’s daughter! How dare she dictate to me? She’s mocking me! I was showing respect by calling; apparently, she doesn't want it!”

Adele, terrified, remained silent. Quentin had ordered Felicia to leave the entertainment industry; otherwise, they would defy Joe’s wishes. The Martins, deeply rooted in Jipsburg for decades, couldn't afford to offend Joe. They had underestimated Skylar and overestimated themselves.

Joe didn't return home that night; he likely stayed on his yacht. After waking, Skylar ate a light breakfast and reviewed the news. Felicia had been ostracized by the entertainment industry. All her brand partnerships dissolved; films she starred in distanced themselves from her. Online searches for “Felicia’s true colors” surged. Those Felicia had blacklisted began speaking out on social media, some even thanking Charles, claiming his situation had sparked a rebellion against oppressive capitalists. Charles’ crisis was resolved.

As Skylar closed her Instagram app, Natalie video-called. “Skye, don’t worry. Felicia’s completely blacklisted. You wouldn’t believe how many people she wronged. Directors and producers are celebrating her downfall, complaining about her unprofessionalism and capricious behavior.”

Skylar sipped her tea. “Yeah, I’m not worried.”

“Powerful connections make all the difference. You’ve conquered Joe; otherwise, why would his team act so swiftly? They seized a strategic advantage. Other PR teams couldn’t manage it.”

Skylar’s smile faltered momentarily, unnoticed by Natalie, who quickly changed the subject. “Are you free? Let’s go out.”
