Chapter 739
However, Jeremy didn't seem to have gotten over Natalie. He hummed softly in response. Rowan's eyes widened. "Have you really divorced her? I heard Natalie became some celebrity's assistant. I thought those were rumors, but it's true?"
Natalie had given up too quickly. Countless women would marry Jeremy, some even as mistresses. Yet, she'd divorced him abruptly and become an actor's assistant. This explained Jeremy's lingering feelings.
"Don't pry," Jeremy stated, watching his cab stop at a traffic light. "We will remarry." He would give her more time.
Rowan's eyes widened. "You're not joking?"
Remarriage after a divorce? He remembered Jeremy's devotion to Natalie before Annabelle. His loyalty had been unshaken; the lustful behavior of others didn't interest him. Why then had he slept with Annabelle if he couldn't let Natalie go? Rowan didn't understand and doubted he'd find a reasonable explanation.
Jeremy didn't reply. He got into his car.
The corner of Rowan's lips twitched. How boring. He fared much better, having married a woman he disliked. Their intimacy was excellent; everything else was irrelevant. It spared him Jeremy's awkward predicament. He called Joe.
"I need Skylar's help. Just a heads-up. I'll call her later."
Joe seemed busy. Suddenly, Rowan heard a familiar voice: "Why don't we go back to school to take a look?"
Rowan's eyes widened. "Are you with Vera now?"
They'd all enjoyed last night's yacht reunion. Many high school classmates were also university classmates, remaining in Jipsburg. Naturally, they'd had a wonderful time. But Joe hadn't paid much attention to Vera last night. Yet, they were together today. What about Skylar? Rowan felt bad for Skylar; she'd made a good impression on him.
Joe hummed. "Call her yourself."
Rowan hung up. Did Skylar know about Vera? Would she be jealous? It wasn't his concern. He lacked the courage to tell Skylar what he'd discovered, especially since Joe had helped Skylar resolve Charles' problems.
Skylar and Natalie were silent in the car, lost in thought. However, they were adept at cheering themselves up. Reaching the dealership, they made eye contact and smiled, understanding each other.
"We mustn't mistreat ourselves," Natalie grinned. "Let's buy a nice car!"
Skylar agreed. "Let's go! A gorgeous one!" They couldn't rely on men, but they had money.
After buying her car, Skylar would return to work tomorrow.
Chapter 39
Night fell. Skylar returned to Galaxy Villa. Joe still hadn't come home.
