Chapter 769

Jenny said, "I..."

Molly quickly interjected, "Are you feeling unwell?"

Jenny shook her head. "I... I'm not sure. I'm feeling a bit dizzy. It should be nothing serious."

She tried to leave, but the dizziness intensified with each step. Struggling to maintain her balance, her expression changed. "I... I think I might be getting sick. Could you call 911 for me?"

"Let's have you stay here tonight and rest. I'll call a doctor shortly. Let me help you upstairs."

"Thank you, Mrs. Martin."

Hours passed. Feeling increasingly overheated, Jenny tried to remove her clothes, but her weakness prevented her. In her dazed state, she believed she was ill but reassured herself she would be fine. Molly would call a doctor, and she'd recover quickly with treatment. Edwin and Molly were genuinely kind; they must be pleased with her. She believed that by showing Joe her true self and gradually exposing Skylar's nature, she could still marry Joe. She was sure of it.

Perhaps the illness was worse than she'd thought. Someone entered the room and helped her undress, relieving some of the heat. Groggily, she opened her eyes and murmured a thank you, only to be silenced by a kiss.

Looking up, she saw her kisser and murmured, "Joe... you came to help me? I feel so awful."

With Joe close by, her discomfort subsided, and her response grew more enthusiastic. That night was intense and wild.

On the other side of the wall, Molly lay in bed, her expression blank. Despite her earplugs, she faintly heard sounds from the next room. She thought, "You're just a little hussy. You just said you've never had a boyfriend, but who knows how many you've actually had."

Edwin, showing signs of age despite his attempts to appear youthful, had a particular fondness for younger women.

A sliver of light pierced the partially closed curtain, landing on Jenny's face. She frowned, feeling uncomfortable, and turned over, trying to fall back asleep. However, something impeded her movement. As she awoke, she felt pain throughout her body. Exhausted and groggy, she forced her eyes open.

For a moment, she wondered if she was dreaming. She closed her eyes again, convincing herself it was a dreamโ€”there was no way Edwin could be in her bed. Slowly, she opened her eyes again and met Edwin's gaze. He was already awake.
