Chapter 770
Jenny couldn't believe it. She felt as if she'd been struck by lightning. Edwin sat up, a faint smile playing on his lips.
"How could you be in my bed? I…" Jenny's mind raced, her face pale as she struggled to recall the previous night's events. It wasn't a dream. It was real. But the man in bed with her wasn't Joe. It was Edwin.
Edwin's smile remained gentle. "You climbed into my bed in the middle of the night. Don't you remember? Don't worry, I had a great time last night. I'll make sure you get what's coming to you."
Flustered, Jenny avoided his gaze, noticing marks on her body. The pain was a stark reminder this wasn't a dream. But how could she have willingly gone to Edwin's bed? She had always cherished her virginity for Joe. How could it have happened?
As Edwin got out of bed, he said, with a satisfied air, "You were good for your first time. If there's anything else you want, let me know. From now on, you can visit me whenever, and I'll ensure you get what you've never had before."
His words and tone reeked of self-satisfaction, but Jenny couldn't respond. Leaving the Moran Residence, she felt trapped in a nightmare. She had only come for dinner. She had no idea how she'd ended up in Edwin's bed. She'd had a few drinks, but she wasn't easily intoxicated; she'd handled alcohol before, in college. She couldn't comprehend how this had happened. She had saved herself for Joe. Now, it was gone.
As she hailed a cab, a car passed. Inside, Paul, having opened the window for fresh air, saw Jenny.
"Hmm? What's Jenny doing here?" She looked as if she'd just left the Moran Residence. Paul squinted, noting her disoriented state, the shock evident on her face. He stroked his chin thoughtfully.
Meanwhile, back at the Moran Residence, Edwin, usually with little morning appetite, poured himself an extra glass of milk. Molly, noticing his smug expression, felt a wave of discomfort but said nothing.
"Transfer 500,000 dollars to her later," Edwin instructed.
Molly was startled. "500,000 dollars?" The amount seemed excessive. "500,000 dollars for just one night? Is she really worth that much?"
Edwin replied, "Yes, it's because it was her first time." He hadn't cared about such things with Molly, his infatuation overriding any such concerns. But now, with age, it seemed he valued them more.
Molly's expression changed subtly. She simply agreed. "Alright, I'll transfer the money."
Paul, leaving the PR department, hurried to find Joe. Sarah had called him to review recent news; he needed to know if Joe wished to intervene. Others might be unaware, and reporters clueless, but Paul and a few others knew Joe's marital status. When Joe was single, it wasn't a problem. Now, married, they needed to be cautious about such gossip. Paul knew something about Vera; he'd thought the last candid photo was a coincidence, but this time…
