Chapter 790

They looked like a match made in heaven. Even in the picture, Joe could see the sparks flying between Skylar and Aiken. His fingers tightened around his phone; he fought the urge to throw it against the wall. They weren't divorced yet, but Skylar was already running to Aiken. Was she that needy and desperate? This explained Aiken's panic during Skylar's kidnapping—he'd been interested in her from the start!

Jenny, distracted during her fondue dinner with colleagues, kept glancing at her phone. She wasn't feeling well but had come anyway, fearing gossip if she'd stayed home. Then, unexpectedly, she saw Skylar. Jenny subtly took a picture, framing only Skylar and Aiken. She sensed a romantic interest from Aiken, but wasn't sure if it was just her imagination. He'd been friendly with other women, but not with the same eagerness. Friends who'd been intimate with him described him as ungenerous in bed, though generous otherwise. A heartless man, whether in or out of bed. Yet, with Skylar, Aiken was all smiles.

What did a man's kindness mean? Ulterior motives. Unless it was for money—which it wasn't—he likely wanted her. Skylar, though Jenny hesitated to admit it, was gorgeous. Most men agreed. This picture would undoubtedly cause Joe to misunderstand Skylar.

"Jenny, what are you looking at? You seem distracted, and down for days. Are you sick?" asked a male colleague, Calum Pince.

"I've been feeling under the weather," Jenny replied.

"We should have chosen something milder, then. Fondue is a bit rich. You haven't eaten much."

Jenny smiled and shook her head. "It's alright."

"Let me get you some chicken noodle soup from the store," Calum offered. He was genuinely concerned and wanted to help.

"Oh, I couldn't trouble you. I'm not really hungry," Jenny demurred, enjoying the attention while subtly exhibiting vulnerability. She knew his motives, but didn't refuse outright.

"It's no trouble. Their soup is delicious and easy to digest. No need to worry about calories."

He left immediately.

"Thank you so much," Jenny said shyly.

To their colleagues, they appeared to be flirting. Jenny, however, didn't care. Men always showered her with attention; she didn't solicit it.

She couldn't resist another look at Skylar. Skylar seemed to have a good rapport with Aiken, Simona, and even the usually stubborn Caleb. Their private room door was initially closed, but opened later—likely due to heat—allowing Jenny to take the picture.

Why wasn't Joe replying? Had he seen it? Was he furious?

Jenny stole another glance. Skylar met her gaze, her smile unchanged from her conversation with the Parkinsons, yet her eyes were cold, as if aware of Jenny's scrutiny.
