“Everything’s been returned, Mrs. Martin. If you need anything else, I can get it tomorrow,” Paul said attentively.

Joe, sitting on the couch, watched. His expression softened.

“Okay, thank you for your hard work,” Skylar said, giving Paul a meaningful glance. She doubted Paul was unaware of her and Joe’s current situation; soon, she’d have to move everything out again.
