Chapter 807

Penelope said soothingly, โ€œDonโ€™t worry, Vera. The doctors at Apollo Hospital are among the best. Your grandfather, Uncle Marlon, and Aunt Hayden will be fine.โ€

Vera nodded. โ€œYes, Mom.โ€

The Ruell family held considerable status in Jispburg City; many people offered assistance. Vera needn't worry excessively. Having spent years abroad, she didn't believe in metaphysics.

During her lunch break, Skylar saw a news report about an accident outside Apollo Hospital, resulting in one death and two injuries. Rumors suggested the injured were related to the Ruell family. Reports also indicated Denton was hospitalized, possibly due to a cerebral hemorrhage. Skylar fell into deep thought.

Returning to work, Alexander summoned her. "I've just learned about the accident involving the Ruell family. Mr. Ruell Senior suffered a cerebral hemorrhage and was hospitalized two days ago. This morning, his son and daughter-in-law were in an accident. His grandson was hospitalized today due to illness."

"These consecutive incidents are unlikely coincidental. Something negative is at play."

Skylar nodded. "I saw a news report during my lunch break."

Alexander frowned. "Mr. Ruell Senior is stubborn. He dismissed my warnings; he's unlikely to heed my advice now. Do you foresee further trouble?"

Skylar replied, "This is just the beginning."

Alexander's eyes widened, then returned to their usual calm. "I hope Mr. Ruell Senior comes to his senses soon and seeks help promptly. Otherwise, it will be too late."

Skylar said nothing. She planned to offer Vera assistance.

The workday ended. Overtime was rare at the Martin Group; employees followed the boss's lead.

Jenny boldly approached Joe. "Joe," she called.

Joe looked at her with a cold expression. "It's after work hours."

"Yes, I know. Do you have time?" Jenny asked anxiously.

Edwin had asked her to arrange a meeting with Joe at a restaurant, to feign a chance encounter. Jenny knew Edwin's ruthlessness. If she failed him, his torment would continue. She couldn't bear it much longer, fearing the spread of compromising videos and photos, jeopardizing her relationship with Joe and even her stay in Jispburg. She looked at Joe pleadingly.

"It's been a while since we've had a meal together. It's my mother's birthdayโ€ฆ Could you have dinner with me? I'll make a reservation," Jenny said, biting her lip. Today was indeed her mother's birthday. Desperate, she used this to appeal to Joe's sympathy.

Joe hesitated, then agreed. "Okay."

"Let's go now! We used to go to that Wiscadian restaurant; the head chef hasn't changed," Jenny said eagerly, pleased to be in Joe's car. It had been a long time since they'd been alone. Lucas could be ignored for now. When Joe wasn't looking, she messaged Edwin, informing him of their departure.
