Jenny looked shocked. “I… I didn’t have a boyfriend in college. Joe, who told you that? I had a classmate who pursued me, but we were just friends. We were never a couple, and I’ve never been in a relationship.”

Joe remained indifferent. “Whether you had a boyfriend or not is irrelevant.”

“Seeing me here and not even calling me Dad?” Edwin frowned.

Molly interjected, “Joe, it’s quite a coincidence. I need to tell you something. The past mistakes weren't your father's or your mother's fault; it was all mine. I’m responsible for the consequences. I’ve been plagued by guilt. It’s been too long; you and your father shouldn’t let this affect your relationship. I’ll do everything to make amends.”

Turning to Molly, he said, “Let’s go to another restaurant.” Molly sighed dramatically and followed him.

After they left, Jenny tried to speak with Joe, but he stood and left, citing other business.

“I’ll be at a karaoke bar in an hour. Come directly.”
