Chapter 823
When Skylar arrived on the set, a scene had just ended. Austin had transitioned smoothly from his role as a cold-hearted assassin back to himself and walked over to Natalie. As he took the thermal flask from her, his eyes softened, a gentle, warm smile gracing his lips. Skylar observed the scene perfectly.
"Mr. Powell, your performance was amazing! I was truly scared," Natalie said, her eyes sparkling with admiration. She almost saw Austin act every day. The awe she felt from his live performances was overwhelming; even now, she was still amazed. Watching Austin act always felt like stepping into the scene itself, as if he were truly the character. He truly lived up to her idol status.
Seeing Natalie's adoration, Austin smiled with affection. "Were you really scared? The next scene is a fight between Charles and me. We'll both end up battered, and the scene will be quite gory. You can go back to the hotel to rest and come back in two hours."
"Hehe, I'm not that easily frightened. I can't leave my post," Natalie replied with a laugh.
They were so engrossed in their conversation that they didn't notice Skylar's presence. Skylar looked at Austin with a meaningful gaze. It was Charles's words that finally drew their attention. "Skye, you're here."
"Skylar, did you just arrive? You missed Mr. Powell's incredible performance!" Natalie exclaimed, rushing over to lavishly praise Austin. Her tone was filled with admiration for her idol. Austin's eyes showed a hint of indulgence.
Skylar smiled. "It's a pity I missed it, but I can watch the next scene."
"Maybe you should skip it. The next scene is quite intense; you might be scared. Seeing it in person is different from seeing it on screen. Why don't you two take a walk nearby instead?" Charles quickly intervened. He knew that he would soon be covered in fake blood and various injuries; he didn't want to frighten Skylar. This was a rare opportunity for Skylar to visit him on set. If she ended up crying from fear, Steven would definitely be angry with him.
Skylar understood Charles's concern. "Charles, I'm not that easily scared." They had been mischievous together since childhood and had shared their fair share of adventures.
Charles chuckled. "Alright then. If you're scared, just leave quickly."
After a few more words, Charles and Austin went to get their makeup done while Skylar and Natalie chatted nearby.
"Did Charlene come to see you?" Natalie asked.
"You knew?"
Natalie nodded. "She came to ask me first. Recently, she heard about your work from some classmates and was worried it might be rumors, so she came to inquire. How is it? Is her family heirloom valuable? I think they want to sell it."
Skylar's expression grew serious. "What she showed me wasn't her family heirloom. It's likely something they found or acquired through dubious means. It's a negative item."
"What?" Natalie's eyes widened. From her experience with Jeremy, she was aware of such negative items and their potential impact. Even without fully understanding, Skylar's serious expression made it clear the situation was severe.
"After I explained the situation, she didn't believe it and just left."
Natalie asked in shock, "What if she sells the item? Will that prevent her from getting into trouble?"
"It won't be so easy to sell," Skylar replied.
Natalie frowned. "Should I ask Charlene?"
She sent a message to Charlene, but it only showed one gray check mark.
"She blocked me!" Natalie exclaimed.
Skylar tried to send a message on WhatsApp but then noticed she had been blocked as well. "She blocked me too."
Natalie couldn't believe it. "Is Charlene out of her mind? Even if it's not her own item, she wants to keep it? Especially since it's a negative item."
Skylar only frowned. Suddenly, Skylar recalled a scene she had witnessed at the café and asked, "Have you been in touch with Jeremy recently?"
