Chapter 854
Skylar selected six wedding dresses and asked Gloria for help choosing the best one. Watching them, Joe quietly suggested, "Why not have them all sent over so you can try them on?"
Gloria agreed, "Joe's right. Have them send all the dresses, and you can try them on."
Skylar glanced at Joe. His suggestion didn't seem insincere. His fluctuating attitude often left her unsure of his true feelings. She knew he was willing to sacrifice his own happiness to please Gloria, so concealing his emotions came easily.
After dinner at the Pearlhall Residence, Skylar and Joe returned separately to Galaxy Villa, arriving almost simultaneously. Joe waited at the door for her. He answered a call immediately upon entering, murmuring, "Where? Wait there." He then turned to Skylar. "Something's happened with Jeremy. I need to go. Could you come with me? They've already called Natalie, and your presence might help."
Knowing Natalie would be there, Skylar agreed.
Thirty minutes later, they arrived at a club, the drive uneventful. Skylar had been there before with Joe. Upstairs, they found Natalie already present with Rowan, Ethan, and several others. Natalie, focused on Jeremy, hadn't noticed their arrival.
"Jeremy, I'm here. Let me take you home," Natalie said gently, trying to avoid embarrassing him. Sheโd known him for years and had never seen him so intoxicated and disoriented. Broken bottles littered the floor, a disturbing sight. His friends appeared shaken by his behavior.
Jeremy looked at her with bloodshot, half-closed eyes. "Home? You want me to go home with you?" He was deliberately misinterpreting her offer.
Natalie hesitated, unsure how to respond; "home" no longer meant what it once did to him.
Ethan interjected, "Natalie, right now, only you can reach him. Please persuade him to come home. We're all quite worried." He knew Jeremy was drinking to cope with his sorrow; despite their divorce, Jeremy still clung to the hope of reconciliation.
Natalie's silence only deepened Jeremy's troubled gaze.
