Chapter 905
Gloria believed things were progressing well. Joe and Skylar's demeanor clearly indicated their relationship had advanced rapidly. She felt the imminent arrival of a great-grandchild.
"Since Skylar's here, why don't we let her see the letter too?" George suddenly suggested.
Gloria straightened, nodding. "Yes, we were planning to call you tomorrow. But since you're both here, this is perfect."
Even Alexander seemed to grow more serious at the mention of the letter; its importance was evident.
Skylar was surprised to learn the letter was from Viola. "We want you to confirm the handwriting," Gloria requested after Skylar examined it.
They worried Viola's handwriting might have changed over the years, making forgery difficult to detect.
Skylar's hands trembled slightly as she held the letter. In this era of instant messaging and quick calls, handwritten letters were rare. Yet, this method uniquely conveyed a personal connection.
Her nose tingled, fighting back tears. Viola had practically raised her, a true grandmother figure.
"It's from Grandma Viola," Skylar said, her voice catching.
The letter described Viola's well-being, mentioned Skylar's marriage to Joe, and asked Gloria to care for her. Viola was also aware of the issues in Jipsburg City and offered her help, promising a return soon.
Upon Skylar's confirmation, the three elders' eyes welled up.
"Viola mentioned she'll be back soon, but she doesn't have a place to stay," George offered. "She can stay at my mansion. It's quiet, spacious, perfect for relaxing. Plenty of houses; she can choose whatever style she likes. Pets, vegetablesโit's all accommodated."
George's mansion was ideal for retirement, secluded and secure, with few residents.
Alexander countered with an annoyed glance. "Your place is too isolated. She should stay at my house. We have plenty of room."
Gloria gave them both disapproving looks. "She's staying with me. Viola and I are both women, and her favorite disciple is my granddaughter-in-law. It's only natural. Skylar can see her whenever she wants. We're family; you can't compare. Don't even think about it."
Even before Viola's arrival, the elders were already arguing over hosting her.
Skylar, fighting back tears, smiled at Gloria's declaration. "Exactly. Living with Grandma would be perfect. I'd even come to stay too."
"Occasionally," Joe corrected.
Skylar playfully glared at him.
Gloria smirked. Alexander and George were speechless.
Undeterred, George added, "With your four or five floors, one more person makes little difference. I might as well stay a few days."
"Count me in! Let's play poker," Alexander chimed in.
Gloria rolled her eyes. "No way. Viola and I will live together first. You two can visit later; otherwise, you'll just get in the way."
