Chapter 91
“Mr. Ziegler, you seem to care about my sister. Do you still refuse to admit your relationship with her?” Kenny asked coldly. “The Williams family is strict, and we don’t want our sister to be someone’s sugar baby.”
He added, “If you don’t plan to marry her, you’d better stay out of our business. I’m in charge here, and she’ll never be with you.”
Kenny glared at Paul. As a man himself, he sensed Paul’s strong feelings for Skylar. Being Skylar’s oldest brother, he felt compelled to assert his dominance to intimidate Paul.
“If people find out that your sugar baby is from the Williams family, our family’s reputation will be ruined. Skylar, look what you’ve done!” Samuel chided.
“Get lost,” Skylar snapped. Despite her usually calm demeanor, she couldn’t tolerate Kenny and Samuel’s audacity.
Paul was equally infuriated. Rolling up his sleeves, he said, “I’ve studied boxing for years. It’s been a while since I’ve used my skills. I can handle insults directed at me, but not slander against Ms. Sullivan.”
Joe was across the street. Even though he disliked Skylar, Gloria (Skylar's soon-to-be mother-in-law?) favored her. Paul wouldn't allow anyone to mistreat her. He was appalled by the Williams brothers' behavior.
“Why you!” Kenny and Samuel exclaimed, startled.
Skylar, initially disappointed by her brothers, felt a surge of warmth at Paul’s defense. She wondered how to express her appreciation and her willingness to fight alongside him.
Joe, across the road, saw Kenny and Samuel harassing Skylar. Suffering from a severe headache and growing impatient, he called Paul.
“I don’t hire timid people who waste time,” Joe said into the phone. “Come back after a few years of training in Aglana.”
Paul was shocked. “I was protecting Ms. Sullivan’s reputation! I never waste time!” He clenched his fist, approached Kenny and Samuel, and then attacked them.
The brothers were unprepared for Paul’s assault.
“How dare you hit me?” Kenny stumbled backward, mortified.
Surprised, Skylar glanced at the phone Paul had thrown down before attacking. The screen displayed “My distinguished boss.”
Skylar wondered if it was Joe and whether he'd instigated the attack. This also meant Joe was close by. She spotted his familiar car across the street, window partially down, revealing his pale face under the neon lights.
Paul massaged his wrist. “I’ll not only beat you up, but I’ll investigate you! If you dare to spread more lies, you’ll regret messing with me…and my boss.”
“I bet Mr. Martin doesn’t know his employee has such a terrible attitude. Aren’t you afraid of losing your job if I tell Mr. Martin?” Samuel snarled. He had a scene requiring a shirtless appearance in two days and was furious about the potential for bruised abs.
He cursed under his breath.
“Ms. Sullivan, please give me the phone,” Paul said, extending his hand.
Skylar handed it over. “Thank you for everything.”
“Use this to complain to Mr. Martin,” Paul said, handing them the phone to lodge a formal complaint.
