My Flash Romance With the Richest Mogul, Chapter 920
The front door burst open. "It's unlocked; the lock's broken," the locksmith stammered, his words cut short as a figure stormed inside.
Joe's eyes locked onto a completely naked Christopher, sprawled on the bed above a still-clothed, pale, and disheveled Skylar. Rage contorted Joe's face. "You're looking for a beating!" he roared, launching a punch that sent Christopher tumbling to the floor.
The sight of Joe caused Skylar to slump into unconsciousness. Trembling, Joe undressed and covered Skylar with his clothes, then gently lifted her into his arms.
Christopher, dazed, sputtered, "Howโฆ how did you find us so quickly? Skylar is my girlfriend! She's mine! You can't take her! Impossibleโฆ howโฆ"
Holding Skylar close, Joe's eyes blazed with fury. To Paul, standing at the door, he commanded, "Send him to the police station. Make sure all evidence of his trafficking is handed over to the authorities."
Christopher's face drained of color. He rallied, protesting, "You can't send me to the police station! Skylar came willingly. You can't force her to leave! She knew about your relationship with Vera and was upset; that's why she contacted me. She even took that drug to please me." He added desperately, "If you hadn't interrupted, we would have beenโฆ enjoying ourselves."
Christopher's frantic attempt to sow discord between Joe and Skylar was transparent. He hoped to exploit any misunderstanding. As the men at the door closed in, he scrambled for his clothes.
Paul kicked him, snarling, "You're as disgusting as what just came out of your mouth." Others joined in, kicking Christopher as he writhed on the ground, clutching his head. He felt no fear; the Ruell family's backing provided a false sense of security.
Across the street, Vera watched from a high-rise office building as Joe carried Skylar away and Christopher was taken into police custody. She realized the disastrous outcome of Christopher's actions.
"Useless!" she fumed. He'd known Skylar since high school, yet couldn't even keep her. He'd had to drug her. She wouldn't have involved him had she known his incompetence. More surprising was Joe's intense concern for Skylar; he'd used every connection to find her swiftly.
Beside her, Justin frowned. "You've mishandled this," he said, his gaze fixed on Vera. "If Joe learns you brought Christopher to Jipsburg City, he might turn against you. You two might never reconcile."
