My Flash Romance With the Richest Mogul Chapter 921

Vera bit her lip, her face paling. “I don’t believe Joe would abandon me for Skylar. She can’t mean as much to him as I do.”

Seeing Vera’s continued lack of comprehension, Justin felt a blend of frustration and resignation. He addressed the immediate problem, forgoing further confrontation. “We need to silence Christopher. No matter what, he mustn't reveal you brought him to Jipsburg. Joe's ruthlessness is well-known; even his uncle is wary. While your family's influence in Jipsburg might deter direct retaliation, distancing yourself is crucial to avoid any fallout. And if you end up with Joe, this incident mustn't damage your relationship.”

Vera frowned. “I understand.”

Justin nodded.

After a moment, Vera asked, “Did Christopher…sleep with Skylar? Given the time and the drugs, it's likely. If Joe sees Skylar with her ex-boyfriend, he'll be furious.”

Justin was startled. He realized Vera’s proud, arrogant exterior was a façade; beneath it lay deep concern. “He probably didn't. If he had, the situation would be far more complex than a simple police escort,” Justin stated confidently. He’d witnessed Joe’s careful handling of Skylar, gently placing her in the car; the swift response in locating her demonstrated his dedication.

Vera bit her lip, visibly frustrated. “Christopher is utterly useless. If I hadn’t heard from him how much Skylar loved him, I never would have brought him to Jipsburg.”

Seeing Vera still hadn't grasped the severity, Justin frowned. “Now isn’t the time for reflection. Use your family’s connections to resolve this immediately.”

Vera composed herself. Her face hardened as she called someone on her phone. After speaking, she said to Justin, “Fortunately, I made contingency plans when I brought Christopher. I thought they wouldn't be needed, but he proved utterly useless.”

“How could Skylar be so heartless? After all those years with Christopher, how could she so easily walk away?” Vera mused.

Justin frowned, warning, “Vera, dwelling on this will cloud your judgment. Remember what the name Vera Ruell represents in Jipsburg. Many envy you. You can’t afford to lose yourself, or let your feelings for Joe override your good sense.”

Vera’s clarity returned. She shouldn't have panicked. Bringing Christopher revealed her fear—fear that Skylar might truly win Joe’s heart. She was Vera Ruell, a woman many in Jipsburg admired.

When Skylar awoke at Apollo Hospital, darkness had fallen. A renewed strength filled her. Joe sat on the couch, engrossed in his phone.

He was conducting business, his voice low and commanding. “If you can’t find a satisfactory solution, disband the entire department.” His anger was palpable.

Skylar recalled the events before losing consciousness, realizing how crucial Joe’s timely arrival had been. The thought of what might have happened without him sent a chill down her spine. That fear surpassed even Molly’s earlier machinations.

Joe looked up, meeting her gaze. He immediately put down his phone. “You’re awake? How are you feeling?”
