My Flash Romance With the Richest Mogul, Chapter 924
The dream felt interminable. Finally awakening in the familiar surroundings of the Galaxy Villa, Skylar realized it had likely depicted the Williams family and Christopher's fate in her past life. Had she not been reborn, they would have faced the consequences of their actions. Wiping away the cold sweat, she showered and emerged refreshed, only to find it was already 5:00 PM.
Christopher's suicide must have triggered the dream. Gathering herself, she descended to prepare dinner, but found Joe already there. She hadn't realized he'd returned.
Hearing her footsteps, Joe looked up. "I had the chef from Pearlhall Residence prepare dinner. It's ready. Are you hungry?"
The aroma of food confirmed his words. "I'm not very hungry yet," she replied, sitting opposite him. The chef must have just left; she hadn't heard a sound while in her room.
Seeing her still pale face, Joe frowned. "Are you still feeling unwell? Should we go to the hospital?"
"It was just a disturbing dream," Skylar explained. "I didn't sleep well, but I'm fine. No need for the hospital." The dream's impact had been profound; she'd felt a terrifying helplessness, even fearing she might not wake up. The line between this reality and her past life had blurred.
Joe rose and poured her a cup of hot tea. "Drink this."
"Thank you," Skylar murmured, taking a sip. The warmth eased the lingering chill.
The next day, Caleb waited for her. "Yesterday's incident won't happen again. Christopher committed suicide."
Caleb's eyes widened. "Suicide? He actually dared? Though, not surprising. Someone who engaged in kidnapping and human trafficking… it's not shocking." He'd been terrified by Christopher's kidnapping attempt, fearing a repeat of the past.
Even Caleb hadn't believed Christopher capable of suicide, and Skylar agreed. While she knew him capable of heinous crimes, suicide seemed a final resort, suggesting coercion or threats to silence him.
"Let's go to work," Skylar said, dismissing the unsettling thoughts. With a lot to accomplish in the remaining half-month, she needed to catch up. Joe had confirmed their flight arrangements that morning; Paul had booked their tickets. For now, other matters could wait. Even if someone sought to trouble her, it wouldn't be immediate.
Vera arrived at Justin's place.
