Chapter 94

If Gloria hadn't told Skylar that Joe wasn't as unfriendly as he looked and was actually a nice person, Skylar wouldn't have offered him a head massage. Gloria hoped Skylar could help Joe relieve his headache; this would ease Gloria's worries about her grandson.

Skylar went upstairs in a huff. Seeing her furious ascent, Joe massaged his forehead, wondering if he was overthinking.

At the Williams residence, Jeffrey and Sadie looked grim.

"Skylar was awful! How could she do nothing while Mr. Ziegler beat up Kenny and Samuel? Couldn't she stop him? They're her brothers!" Maisy's eyes reddened, showing her genuine concern.

Kenny and Samuel were deeply moved; Maisy's concern was a reward for their past pampering. She was so different from Skylar.

"Skylar was rude to Dad at Martin Group today. What's wrong with her?" Maisy continued. She clearly wanted the family to turn against Skylar.

Jeffrey looked sullen. "She's hopeless! We shouldn't acknowledge her as our daughter!"

Sadie disagreed. "She's still our daughter. Jeff, we should give her a chance if she's willing to come home and apologize. The hospital called; they're running out of blood. We don't need her, but Maisy does. Why has she become so cruel? Will she just watch Maisy die?" Sadie blamed Skylar for everything.

"Skylar hates me and wishes me dead," Maisy sobbed.

Kenny frowned. "I don't think she's that cruel. You've probably misunderstood her relationship with Mr. Ziegler. They don't seem to be in a romantic relationship."

"I agree," Jeffrey said, having reconsidered the situation.

Samuel scoffed. "They hooked up secretly. Appearances can be deceiving. I've seen people in our circle who pretended to be brothers but slept with each other's wives."

Sadie chided him. "Your sister is still here. Don't talk nonsense, Samuel."

Samuel rubbed his nose. "I'm telling the truth. We know Maisy well. Skylar might be involved with someone else, but Maisy would never do that."

"Samuel, thank you for your trust," Maisy said sadly. "Mom, Dad, please don't worry about me." They were worried about her health.

Seeing Maisy's concern for them, Sadie felt she truly understood her daughter.

"When is Mr. Martin marrying you?" Samuel asked Maisy. He disliked Paul and would fire him if he could speak to Joe.

Jeffrey's expression changed subtly. Maisy was upset. "I couldn't talk to Mr. Martin because of Skylar."

Samuel wanted to press further but stopped at Jeffrey's sullen expression. "I have to go to the filming site. It's so troublesome. The director will be furious if I take leave. I promised to film every scene myself and not use a double. If I take leave, he'll have to find a stand-in." His anger grew. He wondered why he had a sister like Skylar.

Meanwhile, Kenny felt troubled. He wondered if they had treated Skylar unfairly.
