Chapter 969

Under the streetlights, pedestrians chatted quietly. โ€œI never imagined Iโ€™d be filming in Fachington,โ€ Helena said. โ€œIt feels like a dream. Seven or eight years ago, I wished to become an award-winning actress.โ€

She paused, swirling the red wine in her glass. โ€œI havenโ€™t achieved that yet, but I know itโ€™s not the right time. I still need to keep growing and improving.โ€ She maintained a smile as she chatted with Skylar and Natalie.

Skylar smiled. โ€œThen I hope your wish comes true someday.โ€

โ€œThank you,โ€ Helena replied.

Natalie added, โ€œYour acting skills are evident. That day isnโ€™t far off.โ€ She genuinely believed in Helenaโ€™s potential; Helena possessed both the looks and the talent. With her current popularity, continued dedication seemed to guarantee success. And with Jeremy's support, it felt increasingly likely.

Helena looked thoughtfully at Natalie. From anyone else, the words might have sounded like flattery. But Natalieโ€™s sincerity was evident, even knowing Helenaโ€™s relationship with Jeremy. Suddenly, Helena understood why Jeremy struggled to let Natalie go. It wasn't that Helena was inadequate; Natalie simply possessed qualities that deeply resonated with people.

โ€œThank you,โ€ Helena murmured.

The doorbell rang. Helena pressed her lips together. It seemed her role as a supporting character might be ending.

โ€œIโ€™ll get the door,โ€ she said.

Walking towards the door, she reflected on her envy. It wasn't the glamorous actress in the spotlight she envied, but Natalie, quietly standing beside her. Only Natalie, it seemed, could inspire such devotion from Jeremy.

Opening the door, she saw Jeremy. He looked inside, catching sight of Natalie and Skylar entering from the balcony. They were putting down their half-eaten cake, preparing to leave, when Jeremy arrived. His gaze bypassed Helena, settling directly on Natalie. Seeing cake on Natalieโ€™s lips, a slight smile touched his face. He knew of her sweet tooth.

โ€œHave you finished your work?โ€ Helena asked, reminding herself of her lines. Though slightly uncomfortable with Jeremy's apparent disregard, she adapted quickly.

โ€œYes, Iโ€™m done,โ€ Jeremy replied, stepping inside. He turned to Skylar. โ€œI saw Joe earlier. Heโ€™ll pick you up when heโ€™s finished with his work.โ€

โ€œPick me up?โ€ Skylar exclaimed, checking her phone. Joe had indeed texted her on WhatsApp about half an hour ago, confirming his evening visit.

Jeremy then turned to Natalie. โ€œWe need to talk later.โ€

Natalieโ€™s grip tightened. This conversation was inevitable. โ€œOkay,โ€ she replied.

Skylar, concerned, said, โ€œNath, why donโ€™t you help me pack up first?โ€

Natalie nodded and followed Skylar out of Helenaโ€™s room. Helena looked at Jeremy with a sweet smile. โ€œWould you like some cake, Mr. Hughes?โ€

Jeremy glanced at the cake but declined. โ€œNo, thank you. You should enjoy your rest.โ€

As he started to leave, Helena stopped him. โ€œMr. Hughes, is there really no chance for us?โ€

Jeremy paused at the door, turning back. His gaze remained cold. โ€œNo.โ€
