Chapter 970
Skylar didn't immediately begin packing after returning to her room. There wasn't much to pack; her suitcase had only been unpacked for pajamas and skincare, making repacking simple.
Natalie looked unwell. Upon entering, she sat down.
"I'll stay and keep you company," Skylar offered.
Natalie shook her head. "If I avoid it this time, there will be another. Jeremy's returned to Fachington. He'll want a thorough conversation. I don't want to prolong this. If he has doubts, let him make them clear today."
She'd thought divorce would end everything, but hadn't anticipated it as a new beginning.
Skylar nodded. Considering Jeremy's concern for Natalie, he wouldn't hurt her, especially since they were at a hotel.
About ten minutes later, Joe called.
"Wait a few minutes, I'll be downstairs soon."
"No rush," she replied.
Natalie escorted Skylar downstairs. Meeting Joe, Natalie couldn't help but complain, "Mr. Martin, you've only been apart from Skye for a day, and you're already missing her? I was hoping to spend another night with her, but here you are, whisking her away."
Joe admitted directly, his gaze fixed on Skylar, "I really do miss her."
Natalie was momentarily speechless, unprepared for his ready admission.
Skylar blushed. Joe's tone made his sincerity unclear; his words always blended truth and humor. If she didn't know better, she might believe he couldn't bear being apart from her.
"I'm heading out. Let's catch up in the next few days if we have time. Take care of yourself," Skylar said to Natalie.
"Don't worry. I'll never let myself suffer. It's already past 10:00 pm. You should go back to the hotel and rest with Mr. Martin," Natalie replied with a wave.
As Joe's car disappeared, Natalie lingered before returning inside. She glanced at the time; it was late. She wondered if Austin's event had concluded. Just as she was about to call Hank for an update, Jeremy appeared.
"Are we going to your room or mine?" he asked.
Natalie considered. "Let's go to my room."
They headed toward the elevator. As they entered, Austin and Hank arrived. They saw Natalie and Jeremy entering the elevator.
Hank frowned. "Someone from the crew mentioned Jeremy and Helena are back. The director added two more scenes for Helena, with your character. They're scheduled for tomorrow."
Jeremy had only been gone two days, making Hank easily deduce who brought him back—clearly, Natalie. Hank glanced at Jeremy's neutral expression, but years of working with him allowed him to see Austin's annoyance.
"Should I call Natalie and have her come find us? I can think of an excuse," Hank offered. Their discussion continued as they reached the elevator, already stopped on the ninth floor.
