Chapter 989
When one wasn't feeling hungry, a plate of pasta with sauce felt light, nutritious, and comforting. Simona's eyes lit up. "Pasta with tomato and egg sauce? When I woke up, I was thinking how wonderful it would be to have that here in Fachington."
Skylar began to anticipate it as well. A simple breakfast sounded perfect.
"Aiken knows me best! I love you, Aiken!"
"Oh, by the way, Skylar, do you like the dish? If not, we can have the maid prepare something else."
Skylar replied, "I happen to be craving some pasta, too."
Hearing that, Simona smiled even brighter. "Wouldn't it be wonderful if the three of us were a family? Even our food preferences are the same! The maids wouldn't have to worry about what to cook!"
She said it offhandedly, but those listening took it seriously. Aiken glanced subtly at Skylar. Skylar smiled at Simona. "Haven't you always considered me a sister? Well, I've already thought of you as my little sister."
Simona's eyes reddened. "Mm-hmm!"
After breakfast, Aiken made a few phone calls before asking Skylar, "Do you have any other plans today? If you're free, would you join in the activities I've planned for Simona?"
Skylar considered the rescheduled wedding photoshoot with Joe, but those plans had fallen through. When she left the hotel that morning, it was clear Vera had gone to find him. Her schedule for the day was free of him.
"Skylar, please come with us. Aiken is so boring. Hanging out with him is really no fun," Simona said, giving her brother a slightly dismissive look. She was serious; Aiken was quite dull, and his busy schedule left them with little in common. What interested Simona didn't appeal to him at all. She knew he found women troublesome; the fact that he even agreed to spend time with her was something. She wasn't expecting emotional support from him. After all, there were always plenty of women around him, but he treated none seriously. He was simply too cold and aloof. Or perhaps, he just hadn't met someone he truly liked.
Recently, however, Aiken seemed to have more free time. He rarely stayed out overnight, and no women had sought him out. Simona hadn't thought much of it before, but now she felt something was amiss.
Skylar agreed to Simona's suggestion after a moment's thought. A glint flashed in Aiken's eyes.
While Skylar went to the bathroom before they left, Simona quickly voiced her suspicion. "Aiken, did you fall in love recently? I feel like you're different."
Aiken glanced at Simona.
As siblings, she could easily sense his changes. Raising an eyebrow, she said, "You know very well if I'm overthinking or not. So, who's the lucky lady? Have I met her? Why don't you bring her home to meet me when we return to the country? I'll make sure to help you win her over! You've never fallen for anyone before. This is the first one. So, as your sister, I'll be the perfect assistant to help you settle down!"
"Just don't cause any trouble," Aiken said, suddenly in a good mood.
Simona's eyes lit up. "I knew it! I'm a genius with both high IQ and EQ. I'll definitely help you get her. There's no way I'll mess things up. Aiken, you can count on me!"
Aiken thought to himself that he wasn't sure whether his sister would help or hinder things if she knew the woman he was interested in was another man's wife. He didn't want to hurt Skylar.
A few minutes later, Skylar emerged from the bathroom. "Let's go."
