Chapter 14

Wrapped in Jensen’s tight embrace, Emily felt the warm teardrops on her shoulders. She finally relaxed after days of being gripped by a sense of unease. Ever since their last meeting at the hospital, Jenson hadn’t visited for days. He hadn’t even replied to her messages. In all the time she’d known Jenson, he’d never done such a thing before. That was why she’d come over today—she wanted to find out what had happened.

Yet, as soon as she’d entered the house, she’d noticed that Estella’s belongings were missing. Before she could get excited about it, someone had delivered a wedding dress to the house and even addressed her as “Mrs. Moore.” All of these signs pointed to one outcome: Estella and Jenson had broken up.

As for the wedding photo that was torn apart, Emily assumed Estella had probably been so mad that she’d destroyed it out of frustration before leaving. Anyhow, none of that mattered now. Emily thought Jenson’s contented reaction was enough to prove how much he loved her. They could always take more, and much more beautiful, wedding photos in the days to come.

Emily seemed extremely moved as she turned around and hugged Jenson back.

“Have you finally come to your senses? You refused to acknowledge your true feelings and even said those things to drive me away when you actually loved me. For days, I’ve been so sad and heartbroken! Hmph! I won’t forgive you so easily unless you try your best to make it up to me!”

Emily lifted her chin haughtily. She could barely conceal the look of delight in her eyes.

On the other hand, Jenson finally realized that the woman he was holding wasn’t Estella. He froze, rooted to the spot. There was a startled look on his face. He shoved Emily away and yelled furiously, “Who gave you permission to wear this wedding dress?”

Emily tripped over the hem of the skirt and fell heavily onto the floor. The corners of her eyes reddened from the pain.

“Jenson, what was that for? Didn’t you prepare this dress for our wedding? What’s wrong with me trying it on before the wedding?”

Tears rolled down her cheeks.

Jenson tried to suppress his anger. He muttered through clenched teeth, “Take it off now. It isn’t for you.”

Emily was feeling dejected because of the fall and how hard Jenson had pushed her. Upon hearing his words, she snapped, “If it isn’t for me, who is it for? Were you thinking of giving it to Estella? You and I are officially married. There’s no way she’ll marry you.”

Jenison’s face went pale as her words hit home.

“Emily, I told you from the beginning that I was only trying to help by marrying you. I don’t have any special feelings for you. Estella is my girlfriend. She’s the only one I’ll marry.” Emily dug her nails into her palm. Her mouth twisted into an awkward smile.

“I don’t believe you. Have you forgotten, Jenson? During our high school gathering, you said that I was the only person you’d ever loved and that you’d always protect me. You didn’t reject me when I kissed you that night, and you even watched over me for an entire night.”

The color gradually drained from Jenson’s face as he listened. It finally hit him that he’d done a lot of hurtful things to Estella. In the beginning, he’d simply intended to help Emily. Yet, at some point, he’d gotten engrossed in the feeling of being relied upon. Moreover, that person was Emily, who’d once rejected him and played with his feelings. All of that had given him an inexplicable sense of satisfaction. So, he’d gone along with Emily’s requests when she’d wanted to get married and take wedding photos together. He’d even let her move into his house…

Ignoring the pain, Emily pushed herself up from the floor. She treaded toward Jenson slowly.

“Apply that to yourself. Take a good look at me. There’s no way you’re not in love with me.”

Emily stood on tiptoes and tried to kiss him.

Just then, someone pounded hard on the door. Jensen pushed Emily away forcefully. When he opened the door, a couple barged into the room, along with two other men.
