Listen to this chapter:

Estella was backstage at the press conference. She’d sustained a few cuts on her arm when Emily had grabbed her earlier. Providing Estella with words of comfort, Rowan applied some simple first-aid treatment to her wounds. They found out the situation had spiraled out of hand when they received a call from Zoe. Somehow, a video of what had transpired during the press conference was circulating online. The video clip had been edited in a very particular manner as well.

There was a stark contrast between the haggard-looking, distraught Emily and Estella, who’d dressed up nicely and was on the stage. The final part, where the frail Emily was dragged out of the hall by the security guards, outraged the public. Thetis sided with Tim almost immediately, sharing angry comments.

“We need to bring that mistress down! How dare she act so brazenly?”

“You must’ve had a poor upbringing to be trying to ruin someone’s family name. It’s revolting!”

That shit! Everyone who attended the press conference should apologize to Mrs. Blanchard. That mistress needs to apologize to her...

He wanted his best to suppress his anger. He put away his phone and comforted Estella, “Let’s go. I’ll send you home first. Don’t worry. I’ll take care of it. I won’t let whoever’s behind this get away with it.”

Extra knew now this wasn’t the time for her to feel depressed. She followed Rowan and left the venue through a secure passage. As they reached the door, they ran into an anxious-looking Jenson.

“It wasn’t me! I didn’t know that Emily would come here. Please believe me. I had no idea she’d dare slander you like that!”

Jenson burned toward Estella and tried to hold her hand. Before he could get close enough, Rowan shoved him away ruthlessly.

“How dare you show your face here? If it weren’t for you, would Estella have to go through something like this in the first place?”
