Chapter 119

As soon as Sienna stepped into the room, a crowd of people hurried over to greet her, all hoping to get noticed by this big shot. But Sienna had a clear planโ€“she gently nudged Vivian into the spotlight, steering everyone to talk to her instead.

Vivian, though she had started out nervous and unsure, was now handling everything with ease. Thanks to Siennaโ€™s encouragement, sheโ€™d really found her footing.

โ€œVivian, Iโ€™m a bit tired. Why donโ€™t you chat with them for a while? You should be pretty familiar with the corporationโ€™s files after going over them in the car, arenโ€™t you?โ€ Sienna said.

Only then did Vivian realize why Lana had stretched a thirty-minute drive into an hourโ€“Sienna wanted her to have enough time to get familiar with all those files. She couldnโ€™t let Sienna down.

Sienna retreated a step, observing as Vivian navigated the conversation with surprising poise. She wasnโ€™t quite natural yet, but the ease in her posture, the fluidity of her gesturesโ€“she was getting there.

So she casually picked up a glass of wine and stood silently behind Vivian. โ€œSienna, someone called.โ€

Hearing the familiar voice, Sienna turned around and saw Wayne. His eyes were slightly red. Sienna offered him a gentle, elegant smile, glanced around, and said, โ€œLetโ€™s talk outside.โ€

Here, she was the center of attention, with countless eyes staring right at her every second. There were bound to be some unnecessary misunderstandings.

โ€œSure,โ€ Wayne nodded.

His breath caught as Sienna stepped aheadโ€“her silhouette painted in twilight, stirring his heart like a storm he couldnโ€™t name. โ€œSienna, ten years ago, I thoughtโ€ฆโ€

โ€œWayne, Iโ€™m sorry for making you all worry. Iโ€™m okay now. I lost my memory ten years agoโ€“fate played a trick on me,โ€ Sienna said softly.

Wayne moved nearer. In the dim light, Sienna could see the faint redness around his eyes, hear the way his voice fractured on her name. โ€œItโ€™s a blessing that youโ€™re back, Sienna. Can I hug you?โ€

Wayneโ€™s eyes held nothing extraโ€“just pure longing for his friend and a deep sense of guilt.

Sienna opened her arms and nodded. โ€œSure.โ€

Wayne hugged her, feeling her warmth. โ€˜Sheโ€™s really back,โ€™ he mused with satisfaction.

Sienna and Nora had been friends since they were kids, so she and Wayne were friends too. In her heart, sheโ€™d always seen him as an older brother.

โ€œIโ€™m really fine now, Wayne,โ€ Sienna said softly.

Noticing someone approaching, she gently patted his arm. Wayne took the hint and stepped back, putting some distance between them.

โ€œSienna, how have you been all these years?โ€ Wayne asked, his voice tinged with concern. Part of him was truly worried she mightโ€™ve fallen in with the wrong crowd after losing her memory overseas. The other part just wanted to know if sheโ€™d settled down and started a family.

โ€œIโ€™ve been doing well. Someone took me in,โ€ Sienna replied.

Wayne almost blurted out whether it was a man or a woman, but stopped himselfโ€“he didnโ€™t want to come off as nosy or make her uncomfortable.

Thatโ€™s all he said finally. Sienna met his gaze and said, โ€œWayne, thereโ€™s something I want to talk to you about. Is now a good time?โ€

Wayne nodded. โ€œOf course. Letโ€™s head upstairsโ€”this way.โ€

โ€œOkay.โ€ Sienna agreed.

Miles cast a seemingly casual gaze past them, but in reality, heโ€™d been keeping a close eye on the two of them as they headed upstairs.

Nora and Sienna were the ultimate bestiesโ€“back in the day, Nora would show off her friendship with Sienna on Instagram like a hundred times a day.

โ€œGuess Sienna and Wayne are tight too,โ€ Miles mused to himself.

Up on the second floor, Wayne asked, โ€œSienna, can I get you something to drink?โ€

โ€œNo, thanks. Let me be upfront, Wayneโ€“when it comes to Nora and Ethan, I really hope you all wonโ€™t interfere. I know itโ€™s not really my place to say this, but Noraโ€™s my friend, and she should be free to follow her heart,โ€ Sienna said.

Wayne hadnโ€™t expected Sienna to bring this up. His first reaction was to think that Nora mustโ€™ve said some terrible things about himโ€“maybe even painted him as the villain.

He hurried to explain, โ€œSienna, I havenโ€™t interfered at all. You misunderstood me. I just told her to think things through. Did she tell you anything?โ€

He was just worried that his foolish battle sister would regret divorcing Ethan in the future. All that talk about family interestsโ€“he was just lying to her.
