Chapter 126

Siennaโ€™s expression darkened. โ€œWhat happened?โ€

Lana lowered her head, anxiety written all over her face. โ€œMiss Enna, Miss Winifred was taken about ten minutes ago. Renoโ€™s looking into it, but the other side is being extremely cautious. Theyโ€™re throwing out fake trails to confuse us.โ€

Siennaโ€™s voice turned cold. โ€œFind her. I donโ€™t care what it takesโ€“bring her back. I want the other side to pay the price.โ€

โ€œYes, Miss Enna.โ€ Lana nodded.

The blue glow from the screen illuminated Renoโ€™s face as she curled up on the cushioned window seat, her fingers moving swiftly over the mechanical keyboard. The crisp โ€œclicksโ€ of the keys echoed urgently, like raindrops tapping on glass.

A notification chimed. Reno glanced at her phone. It was a message from Lana, checking on her progress.

When she didnโ€™t reply, Lana called her. Reno tapped the phone to answer. โ€œSorry, I still need a bit more time. Give me ten more minutes.โ€

โ€œAlright, but hurry up,โ€ Lana urged. โ€œMiss Enna is about to go look for her herself.โ€

โ€œGot it,โ€ Reno replied coolly.

Sienna told Vivian and Amber to rest while she went out to handle something. Amber looked a little upset.

Sienna ruffled Amberโ€™s hair gently. โ€œIโ€™ve already asked Ebert to get you a few new phones. Pick whichever one you like. Did you break your old one by accident?โ€

Amber huffed, recounting what had happened. โ€œThat woman was clearly terrible. She threatened the students with a knife. They were terrified, and she was enjoying it. If Claire hadnโ€™t stopped me, I wouldโ€™ve taught her a lesson.โ€

Siennaโ€™s voice was calm but firm. โ€œClaire did the right thing. The other person had a knife. No matter how urgent the situation, you canโ€™t throw yourself into danger without thinking about your own safety.โ€

Amber instinctively argued, โ€œBut I couldnโ€™t just stand by and watch them get bullied. Am I supposed to do nothing?โ€

Sienna patiently explained, โ€œWell, helping others is a good thing, but only if you can ensure your own safety first. If you put yourself at risk to save someone and get hurt, what do you expect us to do?โ€

โ€œAre you willing to pay the price for your impulsiveness, even if it means risking your life?โ€

Amberโ€™s heart skipped a beat. She hadnโ€™t thought of the consequences. If she had gotten hurt, or worse, if she had died, she would never see Sienna again. Amber didnโ€™t want that.

Just as Amber was about to apologize, Sienna continued, โ€œIโ€™m not saying you shouldnโ€™t help others in the future. Iโ€™m just saying you need to make sure youโ€™re safe first.โ€

Amber nodded quickly. โ€œI understand. I wonโ€™t act impulsively anymore.โ€

Sienna pulled the blanket up around her. โ€œGood. Now, go to sleep. You have school tomorrow. And remember, you canโ€™t label someone as bad."

โ€œMaybe the students on the ground were at fault, or maybe that girl was bullying others. We canโ€™t jump to conclusions. You need to understand the situation before you judge. Donโ€™t just follow what others sayโ€“think for yourself.โ€

Amber nodded, taking it in.

After closing the door, Sienna told Vivian that Winifred might be in trouble and that she was going to look for her.

Vivian grabbed her hand as she was about to leave. โ€œSienna, be careful.โ€

โ€œOkay,โ€ Sienna replied.

In that moment, Vivian never told Sienna what was on her mind because Vivian wasnโ€™t sure herself. After all, she hadnโ€™t seen Winifred in so many years.

Of all the people in her life, Vivian was least close to Winifred. From a young age, Winifred had always been strangeโ€“catching bugs for fun, never smiling, always cold and eerie.

Once, when Vivian went to see her, Winifred suddenly draped a snake around her neck, nearly scaring her to death.

After Aiden brought Linda and Jocelyn into the house, Winifred got even weirder. She started putting bugs into Linda and Jocelynโ€™s clothes and food, just to mess with them.

Sheโ€™d walk around with a snake every day to freak people out. The worst incident was when she scared Linda and Jocelyn so much, they actually wet themselves.

Winifred even put poisonous snakes and bugs in Aidenโ€™s bed and room. Aiden couldnโ€™t take it anymore and had her sent off to boarding school, forbidding her to return. After that, Vivian never saw Winifred again.

Vivian could at least get along with Amber, but Winifred was just too much of a freak. That was why their relationship was the coldest.

Sienna got into the car, and Reno had already found out everything about Winifredโ€™s situation. Just as Lana was about to drive off, Ryan Lowell ran up. He was desperate, not knowing what to do, and came to the Hart residence for help.

He knew that Winifred was a member of the Hart family. Now she had been kidnapped and was missing, and he was powerless to help.

โ€œMiss Sienna, Iโ€™m a friend of Winifredโ€™s. She was just taken. Please, you have to save her,โ€ Ryan pleaded urgently.

Sienna glanced at Ryan, recognizing him as the boy who was always by Winifredโ€™s side. โ€œI know. Rest assured, Iโ€™ll bring her back. You should go home.โ€ Sienna replied coldly, her tone making Ryan shudder.

As the car window rolled up, Reno began briefing Sienna on everything she had uncovered about Winifred.

โ€œMiss Enna, the one who kidnapped Miss Winifred is Lydia Willard. Sheโ€™s 52 and has outlived ten husbands. She runs the largest allโ€“female assassin organization in Pyreson, specializing in training women to carry out assassination missions."

โ€œWith highโ€“paying commissions and a perfect success rate, sheโ€™s built a notorious reputation. She travels all over the country, kidnapping suitable teenagers, usually girls in their teens.

โ€œSeven years ago, she kidnapped Miss Winifred. Two years later, Miss Winifred managed to escape Willardland by sheer luck.โ€

That explained why Winifred was so skilled in combat. This fifteenโ€“yearโ€“old girl had been missing for two years, and Aiden, as her father, had been completely unaware, continuing to live his life as if nothing had happened.

Reno went on. "The hacker who tried to block me earlier is ranked tenth on the hacker boardsโ€“Crayson. He was Miss Winifredโ€™s teacher."

โ€œThis time, Grayson sold Miss Winifred out to Lydia for ten million. Weโ€™ve tracked Miss Winifredโ€™s location. Sheโ€™s about to leave the country.โ€

Lana chimed in. โ€œMiss Enna, weโ€™ve already grounded every flight out tonight. Thereโ€™s no way theyโ€™re getting away.โ€

Siennaโ€™s gaze was sharp and chillingly ruthless. In a deep, commanding voice, she said, โ€œReno, track their location again. I remember Lydia has territory around Westsieg.โ€

Reno quickly locked onto their location and said excitedly, โ€œMiss Enna, theyโ€™re really there!โ€

Lana stepped on the gas, speeding up.

Winifred, during the ride, was desperately trying to think of a way to escape. But these people were too strong. She didnโ€™t have any chance to flee.

When she heard the flight had been canceled, she let out the breath she had been holding. As long as she wasnโ€™t taken out of the country, there was a glimmer of hope.

Five years had passed, and Winifred never expected Lydia to still remember her. It seemed that the trouble she caused when she left still lingered in Lydia's mind, fueling her with a grudge.

At that thought, Winifred couldn't help but let out a mocking laugh. One of the women who had kidnapped her slapped her across the face. โ€œHow can you still laugh?โ€
