Chapter 138
That afternoon, Mia took leave from her teacher and secretly made her way to Culturein Street to find her cousin.
Winifred was bored out of her mind, twirling her little black snake around her fingers, when she happened to overhear someone mention a familiar name–Amber Han. She paused, slipped behind a utility pole, and quietly listened in on the conversation.
“That’s her photo. Remember her face. After school, go up to her and shout that she’s your girlfriend–make a scene, then humiliate and scare her with your words. Got it?” Mis ordered, her tone cold and vicious.
The guy snapped his fingers, a sly grin spreading across his face. “Relax. But we agreed on three thousand–give me two grand up front, or I’m not lifting a finger.”
Mia bit her lip. She was determined–Amber had to learn what happened to people who crossed her. “Fine, two thousand. But if you screw this up, I want every cent back!” she snapped.
The guy replied coolly. “Got it.”
Mia clenched her fists, determined to make Amber pay for this.
After Mia left, Winifred caught up to the guy. She kicked him straight to the ground, then shoved her hissing black snake right in his face.
“If you want to keep breathing, you’ll do exactly as I say,” she threatened, her voice cold and deadly.
The guy’s eyes went wide with terror. “Alright,” he stammered, completely freaked out.
Amber and Claire had already made plans to find the best bodyguard they could. After telling their families they’d be out having fun tonight, they carried their backpacks and walked out of the school gates.
Mia trailed after them, a sly smirk tugging at her lips as she watched their happy faces. Go ahead and laugh now–let’s see if you’re still smiling in a bit, she sneered inwardly, eyes flashing with spite.
As Mia was smiling to herself, a man she didn’t recognize suddenly walked right up in front of her. She tried to step aside, but he moved to block her path again.
“Could you move! You’re blocking my view,” Mia said coolly.
The man grabbed her hand. “Mia, I finally found you. Let’s go eat together. As your boyfriend, I’m taking you out for something delicious tonight!” His booming voice made everyone around slow down, all eager to watch the drama unfold.
Mia freaked out, jerking her hand away from him. “What nonsense are you spouting? Who are you? I have no idea who you are!”
“Mia, did you get yourself a new boyfriend! Are you just going to dump me like this? We’ve been together for years. I know I’m just a hooligan, but you promised you’d be my girlfriend forever!” the man wailed, putting on a show for the onlookers.
Mia’s face went pale with embarrassment as everyone stared at her. “I don’t even know you! Stop making up crap and get out of my face, or I’m calling the police!” she snapped, shaking with panic and anger.
“Mia, how could you be so cold? I bought you so many gifts and you took every single one. Now you want to dump me? Fine, but give me back everything I ever gave you, every penny I spent. You totally used me!”
“If you don’t pay me back, I’ll show up at the school gate every day and cause a scene. I’ll make sure everyone knows you’re a complete fraud,” the man yelled, his voice getting louder and more dramatic with every word.
Mia stood there, stuffed with embarrassment. She snapped, “Are you crazy? What’s wrong with you? I don’t even know you. I don’t have a boyfriend.”
How could this happen? Mia's face was burning with humiliation. This isn’t how it’s supposed to be! Amber Hart is the one who should be getting framed and stared at right now. Not me! It should be her!
