Chapter 141

Siennaโ€™s words were not a warning, but a blatant threat.

Nora was so touched that her heart felt like it was overflowing. She sniffled, her eyes brimming with tears that were on the verge of falling. Deep down, Nora knew that Siennaโ€™s words and actions were genuine, that Sienna truly cared for her.

Ethan glanced at Nora, his eyes full of pleading. He was clearly hoping sheโ€™d give him a way out.

But Nora couldnโ€™t care less about their feelings. She was already in the process of divorcing him. No matter what, she would never question Siennaโ€™s words.

โ€œMiss Enna, my mother didnโ€™t mean it that way. I know Iโ€™ve let Nora down, but I swear, I didnโ€™t cheat. Nothing actually happened between me and her.โ€ Ethan was telling the truth โ€“ nothing had ever happened between him and Shirley.

Nora lowered her gaze, not knowing how to argue back. She knew nothing had happened between him and Shirley, but in her heart, he had already crossed the line.

Sienna pulled Nora behind her, her voice cold. โ€œJust because you didnโ€™t actually sleep with her doesnโ€™t mean you didnโ€™t cheat. Cheating isnโ€™t just about physical betrayal โ€“ thereโ€™s more to it than that. And from the way youโ€™re talking, you sound almost proud that you managed to resist temptation. Ethan, let me be blunt, if you had actually slept with someone else while married, you wouldnโ€™t just be getting one beating.โ€

Siennaโ€™s words left Ethan embarrassed, unsure of how to respond.

Nora saw Shirley walk in through the door and gave a bitter smile. โ€œEthan, weโ€™ve been together for so many years. Youโ€™re the only one Iโ€™ve ever given all my feelings to. I donโ€™t want to make this any uglier and turn our last memories into torture. Letโ€™s get the divorce over with as soon as possible. And now that Shirley is here, you can go be with her.โ€ Nora clung to Siennaโ€™s arm and left with her.

Ethan whipped around and saw Shirley, his face going ashen with embarrassment. โ€œI didnโ€™t invite her. Was this you, Mom?โ€

The moment he thought about his motherโ€™s relationship with Shirley, he immediately suspected she was the one who orchestrated this.

Ashley, feeling a bit guilty, avoided his gaze. โ€œEthan, you saw Noraโ€™s attitude โ€“ sheโ€™s determined to divorce you. Youโ€™re a great guy, so why waste your time on someone who doesnโ€™t appreciate you! Honestly, I think Shirley is better than Nora. Sheโ€™s young and innocent, and youโ€™ve got nothing to lose. Nora controls everything you do; Iโ€™m just worried about you.โ€

Ethan shook off his motherโ€™s hand, gritting his teeth. โ€œMom, I donโ€™t need your pity. I told you to stay out of my marriage. Iโ€™m not getting a divorce, and nothing is ever going to happen between me and Shirley. Youโ€™re the one who brought her here โ€“ send her away.โ€ With that, Ethan hurried off to catch up with Nora Sinclair and explain himself.

Meanwhile, Sienna and Nora made their way to a pond.

Nora took a deep breath and stretched her arms. โ€œEnna, Iโ€™ve never felt this free. In just a week, Iโ€™ll be a rich woman, and Iโ€™ll still have my awesome little boy.โ€

Sienna gazed at Nora with gentle eyes. Ten years of marriage had stripped away the innocence from the lively girl who once dreamed of love. Now, only a woman who had swallowed her pain and bitterness remained.

โ€œIโ€™ll always be by your side,โ€ Sienna said, slipping her arm around Noraโ€™s shoulders.

โ€œEnna, when are you planning to have a baby? If you have a daughter, she and my son would be the perfect match,โ€ Nora joked, herโ€ฆ

Ethan came over again. โ€œNora, I really didnโ€™t know anything about Shirley โ€“ it was all my momโ€™s idea. Let me explain, Nora. I know I was wrong. Can you give me another chance? For Liamโ€™s sake?โ€

He turned to Enna. โ€œEnna, you and I grew up together. You know how deep my feelings are for Nora. All the blame is on me, every bit of it. Please, Iโ€™m begging you both, just give me one more chance. Iโ€™ll spend my whole life treating her right.โ€

Sienna stepped aside to give Nora some privacy. โ€œIโ€™m just going to get some water.โ€

As Sienna entered the hall, people surrounded her, showering her with flattery. Shirley, noticing the attention on Sienna, couldnโ€™t help but feelโ€ฆ

โ€œShirley, what are you spacing out for? Do you know her? Spill it โ€“ did Mr. Preston invite you here tonight?โ€ someone nudged her.
