Chapter 145
Nora stood there, speechless. Seriously? Are you two ever going to ask for my opinion? Ethan is still my husband, you know. Well, soon-to-be ex-husband, but stillโฆ she thought, rolling her eyes.
โSienna, letโs have a toast. This wineโs pretty good,โ Wayne said, raising his glass.
โSure,โ Sienna replied, picking up her glass. But just as she was about to take a sip, someone snatched it out of her hand and slammed it down on the table.
โYouโll drink with just anyone, huh? And here I thought you were a famous entrepreneur in Vallaris. Looks like your reputation doesnโt really match up,โ Winifred said, lounging on the nearby sofa with her legs crossed.
Nora and Wayne were both caught off guard by the sudden appearance of the girl. They had no idea when she had come in.
Sienna glanced over at her. โTheyโre my friends, Wayne, Nora. This is my sister, Winifred.โ
Nora stood up and leaned in for a closer look. Winifredโs eyes were almost identical to Siennaโs, though her expression was a little different.
After Siennaโs accident, Nora had tried reaching out to her sisters, hoping she could look after them in Siennaโs place. But none of them appreciated it, and one by one, they all left the Hart residence.
โI need to talk to you,โ Winifred said, casually admiring her black-purple nails. The message was clearโshe wanted everyone else to leave, and Wayne immediately understood.
He stood up. โSienna, Iโll take Nora home first. You two go ahead and chat,โ he said, nodding toward Nora.
Nora wanted to stay, her eyes fixed on Sienna, but Sienna shook her head. โYou should go home. Wayneโs not trying to stop you from having fun, but heโs just worried that any gossip might mess with your divorce right now.โ
โOkay,โ Nora muttered, rolling her eyes. โAs if Wayneโs really doing this for me. Heโs obviously just jealous. He canโt stand seeing me hanging out with Enna. What does he even have to do with Enna? Who gave him the right to be jealous, huh?โ
โWinifred, what do you want to say to me?โ Sienna asked, turning her attention to her sister.
Now that it was just the two of them in the private room, Sienna glanced at Winifred. Winifred was always so headstrongโthere were some things Sienna just couldnโt get involved in.
โHereโs 2 million dollars,โ Winifred said, placing a check in front of her. โConsider this me paying back your favor. From now on, weโre done.โ
Winifred knew Sienna didnโt need the money, but she just couldnโt stand owing anyone anything.
Sienna felt a pang in her heart. It seemed that Winifred still couldnโt forgive her. โWinifred, Iโm your sister!โ Sienna called out, her voice shaking with emotion.
โNo, youโre not. Youโre a liarโa total liar!โ Winifred shot back, her eyes rimmed red as she yelled at her.
Siennaโs heart broke. Of all her sisters, Winifred had always been the quietest. She never liked being around people, always preferred cold-blooded animals, and most kids just thought she was strangeโno one wanted to play with her at school.
She might have seemed the least dependent, but in truth, she was the one who relied on Sienna the most.
Sienna tried to explain, her voice shaking. โWinifred, when I left back then, I never thought anything bad would happen. I lost my memory, and as soon as I remembered everything, I came back to find you allโฆโ
โSave it! I donโt want to hear any of your excuses!โ Winifred shot back, her voice trembling with anger. Without another word, she strode out of the room.
Lana stepped in. โMiss Sienna, do you need me to stop Miss Winifred?โ
โNo, let her go,โ Sienna replied quietly. She would go after Winifred herself.
โSorry, I didnโt mean to,โ Adrian blurted out as he stepped back and accidentally bumped into someone.
Lana immediately moved protectively in front of Sienna. When Adrian realized who it was, he was first shockedโthen completely stunned by her beauty.
โItโs fine,โ Sienna replied coolly.
Withdrawing her gaze, Sienna turned to leave, but Adrian hesitated, his fists unconsciously clenching. โWait. Do you remember me? You helped me out before.โ
