Chapter 159
โWhat a coincidence, Mr. Bayer. How have you been? About the SIE Corporation deal, sorry, but we beat you to it. Donโt be too upset, though. Thatโs just how business works, right?โ A man in a sharp suit, holding a glass of red wine, stood in front of Calvin, looking at him with a broad smile.
Calvin, sitting in his wheelchair, replied calmly, โYeah.โ
His answer clearly got under John Lambertโs skin, and John kept pushing. โMr. Bayer, letโs be real โ guys missing a few parts just canโt handle real business, can they! You had that deal in the bag, and now itโs gone just like that. Honestly, I almost feel bad for your company.โ
Calvin stayed completely unfazed, his face unreadable. โThanks.โ
John yelled, โHey! Calvin Bayer, what are you still acting all high and mighty for? Do you really think youโre still the same Mr. Bayer you used to be?
โNow youโre just a cripple. I have no idea where you get the nerve to pretend like everythingโs still the way it used to be.
โIf youโd just teamed up with me back then, things wouldnโt have turned out like this. Why are you so damn stubborn?โ
Calvin just said flatly, โMr. Lambert, if thereโs nothing else, Iโll excuse myself.โ
John wouldnโt give up. โWait! Calvin Bayer. Iโm asking you again โ are you going to let me invest in that tech partnership or not?โ
Calvinโs gaze grew cold and sharp, his tone stern. โYouโd better watch yourself.โ
John was completely agitated. โCalvin Bayer! With the way things are for your family now, you canโt possibly hold onto this. Why not let everyone make a buck together! Weโre businessmen โ who cares about morals, right? So what if my stuffโs got a few issues! Itโs not like anyoneโs dying! Why are you acting all high and mighty?โ
Calvin replied, โGod is watching everything we do.โ
Johnโs face twisted with vicious anger. โOh, piss off! Calvin Bayer, you totally deserve to be a cripple! Your brotherโs lost his mind, your sister killed herself โ serves you all right! The whole Bayer familyโฆโ
Before he could finish, a sharp scream tore through the air. The wrist he was pointing at Calvin was twisted and broken with a sickening crack, right before everyoneโs eyes.
Johnโs eyes went wide. โSon of a bitch! How dare you hurt me!โ
Siennaโs gaze was icy cold, her whole presence radiating a chilling aura. โLana, drag him out and break his legs.โ
โYes, Miss Sienna,โ Lana replied respectfully.
The place went dead silent. It wasnโt until Wayne started clapping that the crowd dared to make a sound again.
Nobody wanted to mess with Sienna โ she was the fastest rising star in the business world, now standing toe-to-toe with the top five companies. Sheโd shot straight to the top, leaving all the old players in the dust.
Not to mention, rumor had it that Sienna had the mighty SIE Corporation backing her up.
When Mr. Lambert caught sight of Sienna, his eyes widened sharply, his hand trembling as he gripped it in disbelief. Itโs her, he thought, stunned.
โUncle Calvin, letโs go talk somewhere else,โ Sienna said, stepping forward to wheel his wheelchair. That simple gesture made it clear just how close she was to the Bayer family.
Calvinโs eyes welled up with tears, his voice thick with emotion. โWhat did you just call me?โ
Sienna led him to a quiet spot, then leaned down to look him in the eye. โUncle Calvin.โ
โAlright?โ Calvin called out, his heart overflowing with joy. He never imagined heโd get to hear her call him โUncleโ again in this lifetime.
He reached out and gently patted her head. โSienna, yeah. Iโm your uncle.โ
He could never forgive himself for what heโd done to Selina. She went to her grave never forgiving him, making sure her children had nothing to do with the Bayer family.
โUncle Calvin, itโs me. Iโm sorry I didnโt come sooner.โ Sienna couldnโt help but be moved.
Selinaโs sudden passing had left her with so much on her shoulders that she just couldnโt handle it all, so a lot of things got misunderstood along the way.
