Chapter 200
"Iris, what time is the buyer for the ZS serum coming tonight?" Leo asked.
Iris glanced at the clock and frowned. "Eight oโclock. Mr. Lambert, I should warn you, I really donโt think Josef is as clueless as he pretends to be. Keep an eye on him. If he decides to get the serum tested, weโre in for a headache."
She had never laid eyes on the ZS serum, such a miracle drug, before, and yet it was now with the Bayer family. She was both stunned and thrilled. This was a golden opportunity for her. She could sell half of it and study the rest. Not only would the price multiply several times over, but if she managed to crack the formula, sheโd become someone truly great.
Leo knew the Bayer family well and waved it off. "Youโre worrying too much. That kid isnโt that meticulous. Besides, they wonโt suspect me. Iris, they already put down a 12 million dollar deposit just for half of the ZS serum. This stuff is seriously worth a fortune."
Iris sneered, "Itโs not the serum thatโs valuable. Itโs the core ingredient." Everyone in the know had heard of the ZS serum, but thanks to its insane price and how impossible it was to get, it was basically the most mysterious thing in the trade. If she could actually crack the formula, becoming number one in the medical world would be just around the corner.
Josef sat in his car, his face impassive. The more he looked at the serum, the more something felt off. Sienna had handed it to him personally that day, and compared to the one he had now, something was definitely different. It was a pity he hadnโt paid close attention to the labels or markings on the serum back then. Otherwise, he would have noticed the difference immediately. Just to be safe, Josef decided to take it to the Bayer familyโs testing center to have it tested.
Reno leaned in and murmured something in Siennaโs ear. Sienna frowned, her fingers pausing mid-tap on the table. "Are you sure the ZS serum they have is ours?" she asked.
Reno nodded. "Yes, Miss Enna. Weโve double-checked. The ZS serum theyโre selling is definitely ours."
Sienna waved her hand, her tone icy. "Look into it."
"Yes, Miss Sienna," Reno nodded.
Sienna looked at the documents in her hand, all the things the Winslow family had sent over as an apology. She stood up and tossed them all into the trash.
Her phone buzzed. It was from Thorn. Sienna ignored it, letting the missed call count go from 30 to 31. Suddenly, something clicked in her mind. She picked up her phone and called Calvin.
By the time Reno got back, Sienna had already guessed that the serum was the very one sheโd handed over to Calvin himself.
"Miss Enna, itโs all clear now. The serum is exactly the one you gave to Mr. Bayer. Leo, as his personal doctor, has pulled stunts like this plenty of times over the years. And thereโs someone else in on it tooโIris," Reno reported.
She remembered that phony woman sheโd once met at Noraโs place. She and Wayne had been classmates back in the day. The Grant family had been determined to marry into the Sinclair family, but for some reason, Noraโs family had cut off all contact with them. That was when Iris left the country.
That incident had left quite an impression on Sienna. When Iris visited the Sinclair family, she handed out gifts to everyone present, except Sienna. Then, as if on purpose, she gave the remaining gifts to the servants afterward.
Pulling such childish, pointless tricks in front of me. Does she really think sheโs someone special? What a joke, Sienna thought to herself.
"Grab all the files. Weโre heading to the Bayer familyโs place," Sienna said.
"Yes. Miss Enna, Zane said heโll arrive in three days, andโฆ andโฆ" Reno hesitated.
Sienna shot her a cold, sharp look. "Speak."
"Lana has been out of contact for three hours," Reno said.
