Chapter 201

Sienna frowned, a flicker of unease crossing her face. โ€œSend the coordinates to our people over there. Have them reach out and search for her. With Lanaโ€™s skills, itโ€™s unlikely anything would happen to her.โ€

โ€œYes,โ€ Reno nodded.

Reno knew she couldnโ€™t really say she wasnโ€™t worried. This trip was full of danger, and Lanaโ€™s every move put her at risk. If anything went wrong, she could easily become a weakness for Miss Enna. All Reno could do was hope Lana would return safely.

In Bayer Residence.

โ€œSienna, this is coconut sticky rice cake made by our chef. Try some,โ€ Calvin said with a smile.

Sienna took a bite. The cake was delicious, light, refreshing, and perfectly balanced in sweetness. She liked it.

โ€œItโ€™s really good,โ€ she said.

โ€œIf you like it, have a few more pieces. It was your motherโ€™s favorite dessert,โ€ Josef added.

Siennaโ€™s hand stilled for a moment as she met Calvinโ€™s guilty gaze. Every time Selina was mentioned, a heavy sense of guilt seemed to hang over the Bayer family, making it hard to even breathe.

Realizing heโ€™d said too much, Calvin forced a smile and quickly changed the subject. โ€œI heard your father hasnโ€™t been feeling well lately. Is he at the nursing home?โ€

Sienna nodded, picking up another piece of cake and letting it melt in her mouth.

โ€œYeah, heโ€™ll probably be able to come home soon.โ€

Thinking about Aiden being in the psychiatric hospital always made her think of someone else.

After a moment of hesitation, she said, โ€œUncle, I want to visit my second uncle.โ€

Calvin hadnโ€™t expected her to bring up Jacob. He smiled, a hint of relief in his eyes. โ€œYou can, but his mental state isnโ€™t very good.โ€

Calvin wanted to prepare her for what she might see. In his heart, he didnโ€™t believe his brother was truly ill. He had simply closed himself off, refusing to face reality, and especially unwilling to accept that Selina had taken her own life because of him.

Even after eleven years, that pain was still a thorn in their hearts, impossible to remove.

โ€œItโ€™s okay, Uncle. Iโ€™ll keep that in mind. The main reason I came today was to talk about the 25 serum. Here are your medical records, along with diagnoses from the countryโ€™s top doctors. The 25 serum is suitable for your current condition, and it wonโ€™t affect your surgery at all,โ€ Sienna said.

The documents were laid out in front of Calvin. He picked them up and read through them. With every word he read, anxiety and panic crashed over him like relentless waves, his forehead beading with sweat.

The doctorโ€™s diagnosis stated that his leg hadnโ€™t been necrotic to begin with, and there was a 30% chance of recovery if he took the medication.

Conflict flickered in Calvinโ€™s eyes as he met Siennaโ€™s gaze. โ€œBut my personal doctor, Leo, told me my body isnโ€™t suitable for it. He took it to analyze its main ingredients. Sienna, did I cause you trouble? This is my fault.โ€

Calvin wasnโ€™t stupid. As he read the documents in front of him, he quickly realized the issue was with Leo, who had probably kept the 25 serum for himself. His excuse that it wasnโ€™t suitable for use was just a cover for his own selfishness.

They'd been friends since they were kids, and Calvin had always trusted him completely.

"Uncle, some people just arenโ€™t worth our sympathy. Theyโ€™re like stray dogs. If the bones you toss them arenโ€™t enough, theyโ€™ll turn on you and tear you apart. Leo has done way too much under your name over the years. Hereโ€™s what I found. Heโ€™s mostly crossed the line into crime. If anything goes wrong, heโ€™ll walk away clean, and youโ€™ll be left holding the bag. As for the 25 serum, heโ€™s not giving it back. Heโ€™s already sold it for a fortune, and the deal goes down tonight,โ€ Sienna said.
