Chapter 230
It was only then that Vivian realized that even after their mother was gone, there were still people quietly loving and supporting them from behind the scenes.
“Yes,” Sienna replied. She reached out and pulled Vivian into a hug.
Vivian felt a whirlwind of emotions as she looked at Sienna’s face, her heart aching with a thousand tiny stings.
In truth, it was Sienna who had always borne the heaviest burden, even more than their mother ever had.
Sienna had been groomed from a young age to be the heir of Hart Corporation. She was the prodigy everyone talked about, but no one had ever asked her what she wanted, or who she truly wished to become.
“Sienna?” Vivian called out, hugging her tightly.
It must have been Sienna who arranged for my company to be acquired by SIE Corporation. And she must have placed Anya by my side on purpose, all so I could grow, Vivian thought.
Sienna had always been there, quietly paving the way for them, but they had nothing to give back in return.
Vivian didn’t know what exactly Sienna had gone through during those ten years abroad, but she was sure it hadn’t been easy. After all, Lana and Reno were hardly simple people.
“Sienna, I want to join the company,” Vivian said, her voice steady with determination.
Sienna gave a faint smile. “Alright, but just so you know, in the company, I’m your boss.”
“Understood, Miss Enna,” Vivian nodded.
“You’re so cunning.” Sienna reached out and playfully booped her on the nose.
In the Winslow residence, with the revelation of Henry’s hiring a hitman, the Winslow family’s downfall was complete. Henry’s father, Asher, was so furious that he wished he could kill his son.
Henry had even dared to steal and sell the family’s sculpture. Asher had gone to the Hart residence multiple times, hoping to see Sienna, but never managed to meet her.
So when the butler told Asher that Sienna had actually come in person, he could hardly believe it. “Quick, invite her in,” he said.
“Mr. Winslow, hello,” Sienna greeted.
“Hello,” Asher replied. He felt utterly humiliated by his son’s actions. Asher didn’t even have the right to beg for forgiveness anymore.
“Sienna, I’m truly sorry. It’s the Winslow family’s fault,” Asher said, his head bowed in shame.
Asher had already come to terms with everything. He was old, and figured he’d just live out his remaining days as best he could.
“Mr. Winslow, I know you were once my mother’s teacher. But I’m sorry. I can’t give you the result you want regarding the Winslow family,” Sienna said, her voice firm yet gentle.
Asher stared at her in shock, clearly not expecting her to know.
Sienna knew exactly what mattered most to the old man. “Mr. Winslow, rest assured. I won’t lay a finger on Nathan. I know he doesn’t want to come back to the Winslow family.
You once did my mother a great kindness, and I will never forget that. As for Adrian, you should already know, I’m sending him back to your family.”
“Adrian?” A spark of light flickered in Asher’s cloudy eyes.
Could it be the illegitimate son? Didn’t Henry’s wife have him killed? Asher thought in disbelief.
“Yes, he is still alive. He’s even in school right now,” Sienna confirmed.
Henry’s wife couldn’t stand Adrian and sent people after him more than once, trying to get rid of him for good.
Everyone in the Winslow family thought Adrian was long gone. But the truth was, Adrian got into Vallaris’ top school all on his own. No one pulled any strings for him.
At just sixteen, Adrian was already showing a lot of promise. Sienna had done him a big favor, and even if the Winslow family managed to rise again someday, all they could ever be to the Hart family was business partners.
“Okay. As long as the Winslow family has an heir, that’s all that matters,” Asher said, his voice thick with relief and emotion.
Adrian knew he was about to return to the Winslow family, but there was no joy in his heart.
He knew both his father and stepmother were gone, and now only Asher was left at home. Still, this was the only road left for him.
Adrian needed money, and he wanted to be in the same circle as Sienna.
“You’re Adrian?” Nathan asked, taking off his glasses as he studied the handsome young man in front of him.
Adrian kept his face cold. “Yes.”
“I’m Nathan Winslow. I’m here to take you back to the Winslow family,” Nathan said.
“Hello,” Adrian replied.
Nathan flashed a sly grin and leaned in, his tone gossipy. “I’m really curious. Why did Sienna help you out? Did you two make some kind of deal?”
Adrian took a step back. “No.”
Nathan just snorted and didn’t ask any more. With Adrian’s background, getting back into the Winslow family was basically impossible.
If it weren’t for Sienna stepping in, just being called an illegitimate son would have kept Adrian down for life.
“Good luck,” Nathan said with a casual shrug. “Relax. I couldn’t care less about the Winslow family. But if you ever make it big, just remember to pay it forward and do some good in the world.”
Henry was a real piece of work.
When Sienna and Vivian got home, Elisa rushed over right away. “Miss Sienna, Miss Vivian, that gentleman showed up again.
“We tried everything to stop him, but he just wouldn’t listen. He claims he’s your friend and even pulled out an old photo of you together.”
As soon as Elisa said it, Sienna instantly knew who she meant. “All right. If he tries to force his way in again, just call the police, or chase him off with a broom if you have to.”
That lunatic Thom? If I let him hang around the door, who knows what kind of dumb stunt he’ll pull next? Someone like him should just be thrown in jail, Sienna thought.
