Chapter 255
Iris rounded up a bunch of doctors and claimed that Winifredโs condition had suddenly gotten worse and she needed another surgery, stat.
They wheeled Winifred away, and the bodyguards hurried off to tell Sienna that her sister still hadnโt woken up. The bodyguards just assumed this was all on Siennaโs orders.
It wasnโt until Zane showed up that they realized what a massive screw-up theyโd made. Cold sweat poured down their facesโthey were completely freaking out, not knowing what to do next.
โIt was just half an hour ago. Miss Winifred was taken away half an hour ago,โ one of the bodyguards stammered, panic all over his face.
Zaneโs face was as dark as thunder. โWhat use are you people? You better pray Winifredโs okay, or none of you are getting off the hook.โ
โDamn it,โ Zane cursed inwardly. โIris has waited for Sienna to be distracted and slipped right through the cracks. How am I supposed to explain this to Sienna?โ
โFind her. Hurry,โ Zane snapped.
Sienna was very strong. She woke up in just an hour. A dull ache throbbed in her back as she propped herself up, only to see Zane coming through the door.
Zane looked uneasy, guilt written all over his face, not daring to meet her eyes.
With just a glance, Sienna could tell Zane was keeping something from her.
โSienna, donโt get up yet. Your back just got stitched upโyou donโt want to tear it open again,โ Zane said, his voice full of concern.
Siennaโs face was pale, but her eyes were as fierce and commanding as ever, making anyone who met her gaze instinctively shrink back.
Even drained of all color, her breathtakingly elegant features only made her seem even more untouchable and ethereal.
โSpeak. What happened to Winifred?โ Siennaโs tone was icy and forceful, leaving no room for evasion.
Zaneโs heart lurched. When he saw Sienna reaching for her phone, he shut his eyes and blurted out, โWinifred is missing. She was taken about half an hour ago.
โWe suspect it was a doctor from the hospital. But Sienna, Iโve already called the police and sent people out to search. Weโre doing everything we can to find her.โ
Siennaโs eyes flashed. โReno?โ
Reno burst in with her laptop, swallowing hard, her voice trembling. โMiss Enna, weโve found her. Miss Winifred is in this car.
โWe still donโt know exactly whoโs behind it, but our people are already moving to block them in. Weโll get Winifred out any minute now.โ
Siennaโs presence turned downright terrifying, the temperature in the room dropping several degrees. โGuess Iโve been way too soft. Now everyone in Vallaris thinks Iโm an easy target,โ she thought coldly.
โInvestigate. Focus on the Grant family, Sylvie and Iris. Send people over right now. Break their legs and drag them here. And monopolize all of the Grant familyโs business partnerships,โ Sienna ordered.
โYes, Miss Enna,โ Lana replied respectfully.
โSienna, Winifred is alright. My people have surrounded them, and one of my guys has already slipped into the car to make sure sheโs safe,โ Wayne said as he walked in.
Upon seeing Sienna so pale and weak, Wayneโs heart twisted with pain. He wrapped his hand gently around hers, his voice soft and reassuring as he comforted her. โSienna, with us here, nothing will happen to you.โ
Iris never imagined Sienna would act so fast. Sheโd always thought she had plenty of power and connections; she wasnโt some pushover, after all.
But in less than ten minutes, Sienna had already rounded up Irisโs crew and put her at the top of the hit list.
Just as Iris was about to make her getaway by car, the Sinclair family made their move, catching her completely off guard. There was no way out. Her name was flagged everywhere, and they tracked her down in no time.
Iris was scared out of her wits now.
Siennaโs influence was absolutely terrifying. Iris darted into the restroom, desperate to disguise herself and lose herself in the crowd.
But the moment she stepped out the door, a heavy club smashed down on her head. She barely had time to scream before she collapsed. Reno had been lying in wait for her all along.
Renoโs face was blank, her delicate features showing nothing but cold, bloodthirsty indifference. She swung the club again, brutally breaking both of Irisโs legs.
Then, treating Iris like a piece of worthless trash, Reno tossed her into a garbage bin and dragged her away.
Iris had already blacked out from the pain.
Meanwhile, Sylvie was still celebrating, sipping her wine and feeling smug. But in an instant, the entire Grant residence was surrounded by a group of men. Sylvieโs parents whimpered and struggled, their legs and feet bound tightly.
They were shoved into sacks without a shred of pity and tossed straight into the trunk of a car.
Now, only Sylvie remained.
Sylvie closed her eyes, humming contentedly, when she suddenly felt a cold sensation on her neck. In a flash, a pair of hands clamped tightly around her throat, lifting her up and tossing her hard onto the floor.
Sylvie coughed violently, stumbling back in terror. โWho are you? How did you get in here? This is my house. Iโm calling the police.โ
Confusion, fear, and panic flashed in Sylvieโs eyes as the hammer came down. She let out a blood-curdling scream as her legs were brutally broken. Her pupils dilated in shock before she blacked out.
