Chapter 277
Fay Santos was Siennaโs third most trusted operative, but this time, the traitor had come from his own ranks. Fayโs cousin, Sonia, couldnโt resist the lure of a massive payout and had sold them out.
Fay brought her to Sienna himself.
โBoss,โ Fay knelt on the floor. Beside him, Sonia was gagged, unable to speak.
โFay, anything you want to say to me?โ Siennaโs voice was cold as she sat in her chair, her eyes sweeping over the young man on the ground.
He was wearing a simple gray hoodie. With a practiced motion, he bent his knees to the floor, pushing the hood back to reveal a shock of striking white hair and a face that was almost unnervingly perfect.
โBoss, this is on me. I wonโt let personal feelings get in the way. Sheโs yours to deal with,โ Fay said.
Fay wanted to kill the woman himself. He had tried to give her a chance, a way out, and she had repaid him by betraying Hazel. How could he ever face the Boss again?
If it werenโt for Siennaโs direct orders, he would have silenced Sonia on the way here.
Sonia shook her head frantically, her cries a desperate plea for pity.
โIt seems she has something to say. Let her speak,โ Sienna said, nodding at Lana, who stepped forward and ripped the tape from Soniaโs mouth.
โI was wrong! I know I was wrong, Boss, I swear! Please, spare me. I had no other choice. I swear, I had no choice. I would have died without the money,โ Sonia babbled, her face pale with terror.
โBoss, we tracked the payment. She spent it on drugs. She has a long-term addiction,โ Fay said.
Siennaโs gaze flickered over her. โFay, considering your relationship with her, Iโm starting to have my doubts about you.โ
Before she could finish, Fay scrambled forward on his knees. โBoss, I would die before I betrayed you. Please, you have to believe me. You saved my life. I have no other loyalty but to you.โ
Seeing the ever-cool and detached Fay look so desperate, Sonia felt a surge of malicious glee and burst out laughing. โHim! It was him! Boss, Fay is in on it with me! He told me that if I just leaked one little piece of information, Iโd get a huge payout. I donโt have any connections, you know that. Fay introduced me to them.โ
Sonia was going down, and she was taking him with her.
Fayโs hands clenched into fists, his body rigid with fury. โYouโre lying Sonia, I took pity on you, and this is how you repay me? You venomous snake!โ
Sonia just smiled, her eyes full of contempt. โPity? You call that pity? Tossing me a few grand a month? Iโm your cousin, your family, and youโre pulling in millions while I get scraps. Donโt you dare act so noble, Fay. But you were good to me this time. You introduced me to the right people, and I made a fortune. It was wonderful.โ
"Your" Fay had been sold by his family to a laboratory as a child, serving as a test subject for fifteen years until Hazel rescued him.
He had never known a single day of familial affection. The experiments had stolen his ability to feel, to even smile. Everyone in their circle called him an ice block, incapable of human warmth.
Thatโs why when he found Sonia, heโd kept her close, given her a job. He remembered what Hazel had told him once: โYou know, the people who hurt you the most are often the ones you once cared about."
โLana, drag her out of here and dump her in the ocean,โ Sienna said, pinching the bridge of her nose.
At her feet, Fay looked up, his eyes usually devoid of emotion. But now, Sienna could see panic, anxiety, and a silent plea.
โNo! You canโt do this to me! Iโll report you! Iโll tell everyone! Fay is the traitor! Heโs obsessed with you! He has a room filled with your pictures, Boss! Heโs a disgusting creep, you should kill him too! He shouldnโt be near you, he shouldnโtโโ
A sharp cry cut her off as Soniaโs voice disappeared through the doorway.
