Chapter 291
Kress instantly blew up again, pointing at her. โWinifred, youโre so rude. Iโm your master now. Got it?โ
Winifred didnโt even spare Kress a glance. She thought, โMaster? Letโs see if youโre even qualified to be my master.โ
โSienna, thereโs a dinner party tonight. Youโre going, right?โ Thorn leaned in close to Sienna with a cheeky grin.
Thorn had done his homework and knew Hart Corporation was supposed to attend, so heโd come over specifically to be her plus one.
Sienna got goosebumps when she heard his tone. Ugh, that nickname gives me the creeps, she thought.
โNo, Vivianโs already gone,โ said Sienna.
Thorn looked a bit disappointed. โWell, are you heading out later? I could tag along.โ
โNo.โ Siennaโs tone was cold.
Josef had come over just to let Sienna know that his grandpaโs birthday party was in three days. After passing on the message, he picked up the gift Sienna had prepared and left in high spirits.
Kress talked a lot, and finally, Winifred agreed to be his student.
None of them stayed for dinner except Thorn. Amber glanced at the guy next to her, who was wolfing down his food, and couldnโt help but feel a bit put off. Canโt he eat with a bit more manners? she thought.
Thorn looked so rude when he was eating.
โSienna, can I stay over at your place tonight?โ Thorn asked, pushing his luck.
Noticing the possessive, almost predatory look in his eyes, Winifred frowned.
Sienna answered flatly, โNo.โ
After dinner, Thorn was promptly kicked out. He stood outside, staring at his phone, a photo of Sienna at the hospital, standing next to Julian.
The light in his eyes slowly faded, a gloomy aura settling over him. Thorn stood there for a long time before finally heading back across the street.
The day of the SATs finally rolled around.
Sienna put Amberโs hair up in a bun and checked her backpack. โAlright, donโt stress too much.โ
Amber nodded obediently and took a big bite of her egg. โSienna, Iโm going to get a perfect score in every subject.โ
โI believe in you.โ Sienna nodded.
Meanwhile, Hudson was sprawled out on the couch, bored out of his mind, scrolling through his phone.
Suddenly, he sat up and accidentally knocked a book off the table. As it hit the floor, an SAT admission slip slid out from between the pages.
Hudsonโs eyes went wide as he picked it up. It was Amberโs SAT admission slip. How did this end up here? he wondered. Then it clicked. Heโd bumped into Amber on the street a few days ago. Heโd thought it would be funny to tease her, but sheโd smacked him on the head with her book instead.
Then her familyโs driver had shown up, and sheโd just left the book behind.
Hudson glanced at the date on the slip. Seriously? Are the SATs today? Just her luck, he wondered.
Alex was startled when he saw Hudson dash out of the office in a panic. โMr. Grant, where are you rushing off to?โ
โDonโt ask, and just drive. We need to get to the school now,โ Hudson barked.
Hudson slammed on the gas, and Alex felt like his soul was about to fly out of his body. He clung to the seatbelt for dear life. โMr. Grant, maybe I should drive instead? Thereโs still some time before the exam starts, right?โ
Hudson just frowned and ignored him. When they finally screeched to a stop at the school, Alex jumped out of the car, patting his chest.
Hudson spotted Amber just as she was about to walk through the school gates. He strode over, yanked her back by the collar, and spun her around.
Amberโs eyes went wide with shock. โHey, what are you doing?
The school security guard saw someone grabbing a student and rushed over at once, stun baton in hand.
โYour admisโโ Hudson started, but before he could finish, the guard zapped him. He jerked and collapsed to the ground, twitching.
Only then did Amber realize it was Hudson. The guard shouted, โMiss, go on inside. Weโll handle this.โ
โWait, mister. I know him. Heโs not a bad guy. But I really donโt have time. Iโve got to go," Amber said quickly, dropping the matter and hurrying into the school.
Alex rushed over and found Hudson lying on the ground, surrounded by a crowd. It took him quite a while to explain everything and get Hudson out of there.
