Chapter 73
Lana noticed Sienna massaging her temples, concern flickering in her sapphire-blue eyes. After a brief hesitation, Lana spoke gently, โMiss Enna, you havenโt had a proper rest in days. Perhaps you could go for a spa treatment to relax? What do you think?โ
Sienna shook her head slightly. โIโm fine. Keep a close watch on Jocelyn. Head back to the office. Miles will be arriving soon,โ she instructed Lana.
Lana swallowed her words and finally managed to say, โAlright, Miss Enna.โ
Lana asked, โMiss Enna, why donโt we just teach Linda and Mr. Hart a lesson?โ
Aiden was utterly unworthy of being a father. Though Linda had been sowing discord all these years, his lack of discernment was what caused Vivian and Amber to suffer immensely.
Sienna lifted her eyes, a glint of ruthlessness flashing in her cold, aloof gaze, yet her voice remained as calm as still water. โLana, for some people, the real pleasure comes from peeling off their masks layer by layer. Simply killing them would be too merciful. Remember, psychological torment is far more entertaining than anything else.โ
โUnderstood, Miss Enna,โ Lana nodded.
Lana opened the car door and respectfully helped her out. She reported, โMiss Enna, one more thing. Anya informed me that Miss Vivian will be attending a business negotiation at the hotel tonight. She insisted on going alone and declined Anyaโs company.โ
Sienna asked, โWhich company is she meeting with?โ
Lana replied, โMiss Enna, itโs nothing out of the ordinary โ just a small company called Lewis Group that does business with Dynastis Company. Whatโs noteworthy is that Lewis Group is actually a subsidiary of the Sinclair family.โ
Sienna fell silent. โThe Sinclair family?โ she thought. โNora, how have you been?โ
โInvestigate someone. I want a full report on her by tomorrow,โ said Sienna.
โYour orders, Miss Enna?โ Lana asked.
Siennaโs cold eyes fluttered slightly, her voice laced with restrained sorrow as she said, โNora Sinclair, the heiress of the Sinclair family.โ
โUnderstood, Miss Enna,โ Lana bowed.
Miles had been waiting for half an hour when Sienna finally arrived at the company. He stood up and greeted her, โHello, Miss Enna.โ
Miles stood up and offered his hand. But when he saw Siennaโs face clearly, he was utterly stunned, his breath caught in his throat. โItโs really her,โ he wondered.
โHello, Mr. Quinn.โ Sienna extended her hand for a brief, formal handshake, then quickly withdrew it. โMy apologies for the wait. I was held up on the way.โ
Sienna wore a soft, vintage-inspired white dress, adorned with golden-pink embroidery that shimmered like flowing water along the sleeves and hem. Exuding noble aloofness, she resembled an angel, untouched by the mundane world. Yet her gaze was icy and sharp, exuding a chilling intensity. Her commanding presence radiated an undeniable authority, an intimidating force that made it impossible to look away.
โNot a problem, Miss Enna. Here are the terms my company is proposing,โ Miles said.
At thirty-three, Miles had gentle yet penetrating eyes behind his glasses. Dressed in a brown suit, he exuded a warm yet authoritative presence. The luxury watch on his wrist marked his status.
With her mask still on, Lana stepped out on her own and closed the door behind her. The next moment, Reno came charging at her mischievously, burying her face in Lanaโs chest. Reno threw herself at Lana in a tight bear hug, but Lana, completely unfazed, just scruffed her by the collar and unceremoniously tossed her aside.
Lana asked directly, โDid you do what I told you?โ
Reno pouted, casting one last longing glance at Lanaโs chest before unwrapping a lollipop and sticking it in her mouth.
โCome on. You only told me this fifteen minutes ago, Lana. Youโre way too by the book. I didnโt even have time to catch my breath. Huh? Whoโs that guy? Not bad-looking,โ Reno teased.
Lana straightened her clothes. โMiles, CEO of Quinn Group and the heir to the Quinn family.โ
Reno nodded, took the lollipop out of her mouth, and held it out to Lana with a playful grin. โWant one? Itโs watermelon-flavored.โ
Lana reached out and grabbed Reno by the ear. Reno yelped, โOw, Lana, I was wrong. Iโm sorry. I wonโt say anything reckless again. Let me go. Helpโฆ"
Chris was late again today. Lana promptly notified HR to withhold his entire monthโs salary. Furious, Chris barged into Lanaโs office and demanded, โWhy the hell are you docking my pay?โ
Chris wore baggy ripped jeans and a shirt with clashing patterns. Lana didnโt even glance his way.
Lana said sternly. โChris, this is your final warning. If youโre late again, donโt bother coming to work anymore.โ
Chris clenched his fists, grinding his teeth. โFine. Iโll come in, but at least let me do some real work. Why am I always the one fetching water, mopping floors, and unclogging toilets? I came here to work, not to be your damn janitor.โ
