Chapter 93
After dropping Amber off at home, Sienna changed her clothes and headed to the Preston residence to find Nora. The servant informed her that Nora had gone to the cemetery to pay respects to a friend.
Sienna had a pretty good idea who that friend might be.
โTake me to the cemetery,โ Sienna instructed.
โYes, Miss Enna,โ Lana replied respectfully.
Meanwhile, at the cemetery, Nora wiped away the tears at the corners of her eyes as she murmured, โEnna, Iโve decided to get a divorce. You were right.
โIโve always been too indecisive, too hesitant. This time, Iโm settling every last thing, clean and final. Watch over me from down there and make sure everything goes smoothly.โ
Just as Nora finished speaking, a voice suddenly called out, โNo need to watch over you. Iโll help you.โ
Nora froze for a moment. She didnโt even suspect someone was actually talking to her; she chalked it up to her mind playing tricks. She said, โEnna, youโre so sweet, but you canโt just go around killing someone for me.
โGhosts can get away with murder, but what if this lands you straight in hell? Then it would be all my fault. I canโt drag you down with me. Besides, Ethan doesnโt deserve to die.โ
Sienna stood behind Nora, listening to her words, thinking she was both naive and ridiculous.
โNora, Iโm not a ghost. Iโm not dead,โ Sienna said.
Nora suddenly felt a wave of fear wash over her. She glanced around nervously. The sky was getting dark, and the whole cemetery was starting to look super creepy.
โEnna, please donโt freak me out. Iโve always been a total coward. If you have any grievances, canโt you just visit me in a dream tonight? Donโt say stuff like that here. I canโt take it,โ Nora pleaded.
Even though losing her friend had hurt like hell, and Nora still missed Sienna after all these years, seeing a ghost was the last thing Nora wanted.
โSeriously?โ Sienna thought to herself, completely speechless.
โHi, Miss Sinclair,โ Lana called out.
Nora whipped around at the unfamiliar voice and saw a tall, blonde, blueโeyed woman in a suit, clearly not from around here.
โWho are you?โ Nora asked, genuinely curious. She had no idea who this woman was.
Lana slowly stepped aside, and suddenly, Sienna appeared right in front of her. Noraโs pupils dilated in shock, her mind going completely blank. The world faded away, leaving only Sienna standing before Nora.
Noraโs heart pounded wildly, her eyes wide as saucers. Nora jolted. She pointed at Sienna, and then she just collapsed on the spot.
โNora, are you fine?โ Sienna rushed forward, catching her before she hit the ground, and quickly pressed the spot under her nose to try to wake her up.
โNora, donโt be scared. Itโs me. Iโm not dead,โ Sienna said softly.
Nora slowly regained consciousness, blinking up at the woman standing over her.
โEnna?โ Nora thought in shock. โDid I just see Ennaโs ghost? Am I just imagining things?โ
โNora, letโs talk somewhere else. Iโm alive. Iโm not a ghost. If you donโt believe me, you can touch me and see for yourself,โ Sienna said softly.
Nora immediately jumped out of Siennaโs arms, backing away several feet. She stared at Sienna in utter shock. Her eyes were wide as she scanned her from head to toe, over and over, completely dumbfounded.
โWโWhy-โ Nora stammered. The blow was just too much, and her brain just couldnโt process it all at once.
Hesitantly, Nora reached out and poked Siennaโs cheek. It was soft, and even a little warm. After poking her face, Nora gave it a gentle pinch, then touched her arm. Sienna was real.
โSiennaโs alive,โ Noraโs mind screamed. โAm I just hallucinating because I missed her so much?โ
Smack. Nora slapped herself across the face, then yelped, โOw, that really hurts!โ
Nora spun around in circles, rubbing her eyes, and looked again. Yep, it was still her. She asked in a trembling voice, โEnna?โ
โItโs me.โ Sienna gave a gentle smile. โReally, itโs me. No need to doubt it. Iโm not dead. Iโm back.โ
Noraโs eyes widened in shock as she glanced back at the cemetery. โEnna, did you just step down from heaven?โ
Sienna was speechless. She walked over and flicked Nora on the forehead. โOuch, that hurts,โ Nora yelped.
Sienna grabbed her hand. โSee? If you can feel pain, then you know Iโm not a ghost. Letโs talk somewhere else.โ
This place is seriously bad luck, Sienna thought, glancing at the piles of white lilies, her lips twitching, โYou really buy so many flowers for me every year?โ
Nora replied truthfully, still looking dazed and clearly thinking she was just imagining all of this.
Nora explained. โOf course not, Enna. Relax. I bought tenfold this many for you every year, and itโs always the fanciest kind. Every time, I toss trillions your way, so youโll never run out. Seriously, if you ever run low, just let me know and Iโll buy some more.โ
Both Sienna and Lana were at a total loss. Lana wondered, โIs Miss Sinclair always this extra?โ
Sienna pulled her into the car. โNora, snap out of it. Iโm not dead. Iโm back.โ
Nora stared at her in a daze. โEnna, just tell me what you need. Iโll buy it for you, no problem.โ
Sienna reached out and smacked her on the forehead. โOuch, that hurts,โ Nora yelped again.
The sharp pain finally jolted Nora awake. She stared at the very real, fleshโandโblood person standing in front of her, her eyes finally focusing.
โEnna, please tell me this isnโt just my imagination, okay? Or did you seriously crawl out of your grave? Donโt freak me out. Iโm super easily spooked,โ Nora sounded absolutely pitiful.
โNora, Iโm not dead, and I didnโt crawl out of a grave, okay?โ Sienna said, exasperated.
Nora blinked innocently. โThen what are you doing here at the cemetery?โ
โI came here to find you,โ Sienna replied, at a loss for words.
Nora patted Sienna on the shoulder, putting on a serious face. โWell, thanks for making the trip just to see me. So, are you heading back now, or do you need me to get an angel to send you off?โ
Lana couldnโt help but snort with laughter, while Sienna closed her eyes, pressed a hand to her forehead, and shook her head helplessly.
โNora, you are just unbelievable,โ Sienna muttered. Even the alwaysโcool lady couldnโt keep it together anymore.
โSo, where are we going? Is this your car? Do you drive a Maybach in heaven, too?โ Nora asked, still totally clueless.
Sienna seriously thought she might need to take Nora to the hospital to get her brain checked.
โMiss Sinclair, Miss Enna didnโt die. She survived the plane crash all those years ago. In fact, she was the one who drove you home last night,โ Lana explained.
Lanaโs words hit Nora like a ton of bricks. She blinked a few times, studying the woman in front of her, then reached out and gently cupped her face.
Sienna didnโt resist. She just let Nora turn her head this way and that, examining her closely.
Noraโs eyes grew redโrimmed, her vision blurring with tears as they welled up. She started trembling uncontrollably.
Sienna reached out to wipe her tears, but Nora suddenly shouted, โDonโt move. Donโt you dare move.โ
Sienna quietly pulled her hand back, and the car fell into a heavy silence. Nora just kept checking again and again, trying to make sure Sienna was really real.
Nora scrutinized every detail, making sure Siennaโs blood was flowing, her body was warm, and that she wasnโt dreaming or just hallucinating all of this.
Finally, Nora just threw herself into Siennaโs arms, clinging to her, and then she just broke down, bawling her eyes out.
โSienna, you freaking messed with me. Shit, damn it, holy crap. Youโre actually alive. Youโre really, really alive. Still breathing, not dead,โ she wailed.
Sienna soothingly stroked her back. โYeah, Iโm not dead.โ
For ten years, sheโd been alive, but it was no different from being dead. Sheโd lost all her memories. For ten whole years, sheโd lived as Hazel Noir.
Half an hour later, Nora finally calmed down. She fixed Sienna with a serious look and demanded, โAlright, spill everything. Donโt leave out a single word.
โWhat happened to you these past ten years? Did you get married? Was it to some foreign guy? Do you have kids? When did you tie the knot? Did he chase after you, or did you go after him?โ
