“It hurts,” Kyle groaned. Elizabeth chuckled. “Good, it should.” She clenched her fist tighter. Kyle squinted. “Wait a minute!” He grabbed Elizabeth’s wrist, totally confused. “Elizabeth, what kind of kink is this?” They hadn’t even hooked up yet, and she was already roughing him up? Elizabeth blinked. “I don’t have any kinks.” She was just in a bad mood and picked him to take it out on.
Kyle didn’t get a chance to ask more. Elizabeth punched him straight in the face. Kyle was stunned. This time, Elizabeth didn’t let him react. She pinned his neck and kept punching him hard! Kyle finally got it—Elizabeth was here just to beat him up! But why? He hadn’t done anything to her. “Elizabeth! Enough!” he shouted, his mouth already bloody. Elizabeth didn’t let him speak and punched him again. Then she stood up and lifted Kyle.
Kyle was completely shocked. At six feet tall, he couldn’t believe Elizabeth lifted him so easily! Elizabeth dragged Kyle to the window and opened it. The cold wind rushed in, making Kyle shiver. Elizabeth, though, was burning up and didn’t feel the cold at all. She looked outside, then back at Kyle. She pushed half of his body out the window.
Kyle was stunned, unable to speak as the wind rushed into his mouth. His throat felt locked up, super uncomfortable. “Uncomfortable?” Elizabeth asked. Kyle gritted his teeth. How could he not be? “Kyle, you know I despise you,” Elizabeth said.
How could Kyle know? Just a moment ago, he thought Elizabeth wanted to hook up. “Actually, when I first met you, I thought you were pretty cool,” Elizabeth frowned. “For some people, the more you get to know them, the more you think they’re awesome, so awesome that you feel unworthy to be their friend. But there are also people—the more you get to know them, the more you find them annoying, and you can’t stand them at all!”
Kyle’s face turned sour. Couldn’t Elizabeth just say she found him more and more annoying? Elizabeth pursed her lips and asked, “Do you get what I mean? Mr. Brooks, someone as smart as you must understand.” She pushed Kyle further out. Kyle had to speak up, “Elizabeth! Stop it.” He was scared now. Elizabeth was really strong. He felt extremely uncomfortable, as if his blood had stopped flowing throughout his body, a truly unsettling sensation.
“Elizabeth. Let me go. I know why you don’t like me,” he stammered. Elizabeth asked, “Why?” She didn’t even know why she didn’t like Kyle. And Kyle knew it? She wanted to hear why. Kyle looked at Elizabeth, gasping for breath, and said, “Isn’t it because I targeted Alexander?”
