Elizabeth’s face scrunched up, and her grip on Kyle’s neck tightened. She thought, “Did Kyle get his brains knocked out?”

“Even though you keep saying you don’t love Alexander anymore, Elizabeth, deep down, you’re still defending him,” Kyle said, swallowing blood in his mouth, his voice raspy.

Elizabeth looked at Kyle and smirked. “Keep going with your little theory.” She was curious to see what else Kyle had up his sleeve. Was he seriously suggesting she was beating him up for Alexander? No, she just couldn’t stand Kyle. Alexander wasn’t worth the effort.

Sure, she liked Alexander, but she always remembered she was a girl. Girls were supposed to be protected, not fight for guys. They wouldn’t be valued if they did that. “Elizabeth, I say you still love Alexander. Do you dare to deny it?” Kyle glared at her.

Elizabeth grinned. “Kyle, I say you’re nuts. Do you dare to deny that?”

“I’m asking you a question!” Kyle snapped.

“I’m asking you one too. Why don’t you answer me?” Elizabeth raised an eyebrow and leaned in closer to Kyle.

Kyle didn’t dare push her any further because he could feel his feet starting to lift off the ground. If Elizabeth used just a bit more force, she might actually push him off! Even though the floor wasn’t very high, a fall could still be fatal. He’d either end up disabled or with brain damage! And he hadn’t avenged his parents yet, nor had he defeated Alexander.

“Elizabeth, calm down. I won’t go after Alexander anymore, just let me go,” Kyle said, trying to sound weak.

Elizabeth glanced at him and said, “I was just giving you a scare.” Then she let go of Kyle.

Kyle was shocked that she was just trying to scare him.

“Kyle, the reason I beat you up is because your conversation with Alexander just now annoyed me. It’s not because you insulted Alexander, but because I always felt you were disrespecting me too,” Elizabeth said, shaking her wrist.

Kyle watched as Elizabeth went to get a wet wipe to clean her hand. It was like she had touched something gross, wiping each fingertip meticulously, which made Kyle feel like trash.

Next time I see you, I might beat you up again,” Elizabeth said, spreading her hands, her eyes smiling but ice-cold.

Kyle looked at her face and shivered. Elizabeth’s smile was so beautiful and gentle, but when she hit, each punch was heavier than the last!
