Unrepairable Love
Chapter 641
Felix nodded. โYes,โ
โDonโt you think Esme is like how I used to be?โ Elizabeth asked Felix with a smile.
Felix curled his lip. โYouโre much better than her.โ
โNo, Iโm even more shameless than she is.โ Elizabeth smiled brightly at Felix.
Felix couldnโt see Elizabethโs smile; he only felt that beneath it was a world of heartache. Elizabeth wasnโt really smiling; she was clearly tearing open her own wounds in self-mockery.
โLetโs go then,โ Felix said.
Elizabeth nodded. She looked at Alexander again, who was standing right in front of her, saying nothing. Today, Alexander was dressed very simply, in casual clothes. It seemed he hadnโt gone to work. Elizabeth remembered that he had said he went to the mall, thinking he actually had the leisure to do that. Elizabeth gave him a faint smile and turned to leave.
โElizabeth,โ Alexander finally called her.
Elizabeth stopped and looked at him with Felix. โCan I show you something?โ Alexander looked at Elizabeth, his demeanor completely different from when he was with Esme.
Elizabeth raised an eyebrow. โWhat?โ
Considering how quickly Alexander had come over today, she was willing to take a look. She had no other intention in calling Alexander over; she just wanted him to see Esme clearly. To see how despicable Esme was, always claiming she wanted to kill her. And to let Alexander know how naive he used to be, believing Esmeโs lies time and again.
Alexander took out something wrapped in kraft paper from the car. It was flat, and it looked like a box, or maybe a painting? Elizabeth frowned as Alexander walked up to her with the item. She smelled a faint scent of smoke on him. Alexander must have been smoking a lot recently, because he never reeked of smoke.
Elizabeth watched Alexanderโs face as he carefully unwrapped the package. She lowered her head and saw a painting. The back of the painting faced Elizabeth, so she couldnโt see the image. Until Alexander turned it around.
Elizabethโs eyes trembled slightly. Her hand in her pocket slowly clenched, then she looked at Alexander. โItโs quite nice.โ
It was a sunset painting. Elizabethโs memories flooded her mind, pulling her harshly to the edge of a cliff. It was the painting she had dragged Alexander to make on her birthday. But it wasnโt the one she had painted.
โIโm really clumsy, and I canโt paint like you,โ Alexander looked at the sunset in the painting and said, โI canโt even draw a round sun.โ
Elizabeth paused. That year, she had said the same thing, โAlexander, why canโt I even draw a round sun?โ
โI really canโt draw it round.โ Alexander looked at Elizabeth.
Elizabeth bit her lower lip. She was just trying to make Alexander a little happier back then. And she had learned to paint as a child; how could she not draw a round sun?
Elizabeth gave a bitter smile. โSo you went to the mall to paint.โ
โYes, I always felt something was missing behind the sofa.โ Alexander smiled. โIt turned out it was this.โ
โThatโs good. Youโre so busy with work, and you need to let yourself relax a bit.โ Elizabeth lowered her head. โIf thereโs nothing else, Iโll head back.โ
She could almost picture Alexander painting. Unfortunately, Alexander wasnโt by her side.
โElizabeth, can you help me refine this painting? Itโs too ugly.โ Alexander looked at Elizabeth, his voice soft and cautious.
