Elizabeth sat on the sofa, picked up a magazine, and lazily said, “I was hanging out with Esme.” Lila was stunned. Elizabeth knew Lila would be shocked.

“Esme tried to have someone kill me,” she added, seeing there were others around, “She has depression, and she’s not in a good state.” Lila understood that Elizabeth wasn’t saying everything because there were other people around. She would definitely ask for the full story over dinner that night.

“I also invited Alexander,” Elizabeth said. Lila was shocked once again.
