Chapter 167

Jennyโ€™s comments, though seemingly harmless, carried a suspicious undertone, hinting at something more. Renaโ€™s eyes flickered. โ€œI still donโ€™t know what Mimiโ€™s doing in Elgerson City. She must be doing something extraordinary, right? After all, ordinary people donโ€™t just make millions.โ€

Miranda frowned, but Mindy gently squeezed her hand, signaling her to let it go.

โ€œRena, Jenny, you two must be joking,โ€ Mindy said. โ€œAlthough Mimi didnโ€™t continue her masterโ€™s degree after college, she hasnโ€™t been idle. She worked several jobs and managed to save some money.โ€

Cynthia sneered. โ€œItโ€™s best if she earned it honestly. Iโ€™m just worried she might have resorted to unscrupulous means.โ€

Mindy remained calm. โ€œThanks for your concern, Cynthia. However, Miranda is grown and has her own plans. As parents and elders, we should be supportive.โ€

Jenny raised an eyebrow. โ€œPlans? Does Mimi have something up her sleeve? Is she returning to Elgerson City for a job, or is she hunting for a new โ€˜targetโ€™? Will she be bringing home another few million next year?โ€

She emphasized the word โ€œtarget,โ€ making her implication clear.

Mindyโ€™s expression darkened. Before she could respond, Mirandaโ€™s phone rang.

โ€œMom, I need to take this call.โ€

โ€œAlright, go ahead,โ€ Mindy said, taking a deep breath to control her anger.

Miranda answered, โ€œWinter, whatโ€™s up? Is something wrong?โ€

Winterโ€™s voice was urgent. โ€œThe postgraduate admission exam results are out! You should check your score and see if you passed.โ€

Miranda realized it was the day. Sheโ€™d completely forgotten.

โ€œAlright, Iโ€™ll check now,โ€ she said, hanging up and rushing upstairs.

In her bedroom, Miranda opened her laptop and went to the results website. She entered her admission ticket number and password. Just as she was about to hit enterโ€”

A voice called from the walk-in closet. โ€œMiranda, are all these bags real?โ€

Startled, Miranda saw Quincey emerging, carrying a Chanel bag and a Louis Vuitton bag slung over her shoulder.

โ€œWho gave you permission to come in here?โ€ Miranda demanded.

Quincey looked surprised. โ€œAunt Mindy said I could look around.โ€

โ€œThat doesnโ€™t mean you can go through peopleโ€™s things!โ€

โ€œWhat do you mean? Itโ€™s just a couple of bags. Canโ€™t I even look at them? Are they that precious?โ€

Chapter 167 (continued)

Mirandaโ€™s expression turned cold. โ€œWe were taught not to touch other peopleโ€™s belongings.โ€

โ€œSo what if I did? Is there a problem?โ€ Quincey insisted.

โ€œYes, there is.โ€

โ€œUgh, Iโ€™m taking one today, so there! What are you going to do about it? A man clearly bought them for you. Why are you acting so smug? Pretending to be classy when youโ€™re nothing but a tramp! Youโ€™re just a bitch who sleeps with one man and then latches onto another!โ€

Miranda slapped Quincey. โ€œThis slap is to teach you a lesson. Watch your mouth, or you might get beaten up.โ€

โ€œYouโ€ฆ How dare you hit me?โ€ Quincey stared in disbelief, trembling with rage.

โ€œYes, I hit you. Do I need to announce it beforehand?โ€ Miranda retorted.

โ€œMiranda, youโ€™re going to pay for this!โ€

Downstairs, the conversation continued to revolve around Miranda and her finances. Even George and Anna were subtly trying to uncover the truth.

Then, a scream echoed from upstairs.

Jennyโ€™s face paled. โ€œThat was Quincey! Quincey screamed!โ€
