Chapter 0225

Within seconds, a large amount of related data appeared on the screen. Sandy shouted, โ€œSir, sir! Come over quick! Check if these are the dataโ€ฆโ€

The technician hurried to the computer and began working. After a bit of clicking, he said, โ€œIt looks like some data is being read back, but Iโ€™m not sure if itโ€™s what youโ€™re looking for. Someone needs to verify it.โ€

Elizabeth immediately stepped forward to check, and the technician gave her his seat. As the seconds ticked by, Sandy grew impatient watching Elizabethโ€™s silence. Well, say something! How much data has been restored?โ€

โ€œโ€ฆMost of it,โ€ Elizabeth said, biting her lip, though her expression didnโ€™t show much relief.

Dissatisfied with her vague answer, Sandy decided to check for herself. Once she confirmed, she finally relaxed. โ€œThank goodness, weโ€™ve recovered 99%!โ€

She wrapped her arm around Miranda. โ€œWe really owe you for this; otherwise, weโ€™d be in tears! It wouldโ€™ve taken at least two more weeks of overtime to recreate this data.โ€

โ€œNo wonder youโ€™re a Bedford College student; your mind works so quickly,โ€ the technician said, slapping his thigh in admiration. He didnโ€™t hold back his praise.

Silas nodded in agreement, his eyes brimming with admiration and gratitude. โ€œExactly, this time, itโ€™s all thanks to Miranda!โ€

He sighed and added with a playful tone, โ€œDr. Jefferson really has a keen eye, huh? He saw the potential early on and locked down a great talent like her. Smart move!โ€

Although he spoke sincerely, there was a hint of teasing in his eyes. Paulโ€™s expression remained unchanged, as if he hadnโ€™t caught the underlying meaning. Nonetheless, his hands subconsciously clenched into fists.

Realizing how affected he had become, he took a deep breath and forced his hands to relax. Even so, there were some things that, once disturbed, were hard to settle again.

Bryan clicked his tongue a couple of times, staring at Miranda like she was some foreign specimen. He seemed particularly intrigued by her brain. After a long moment, he finally asked, โ€œโ€ฆMiranda, did you ever compete on that show called The Brain?โ€

Miranda was at a loss for words.

Sandy and Silas burst into laughter and couldnโ€™t stop.

Only Elizabeth looked at Miranda with a gaze that was cold and deep.

Sandy noticed Mirandaโ€™s speechless expression, then glanced at Paulโ€™s slightly helpless face. She then turned to see Bryanโ€™s concerned look toward Elizabeth, and the clear hostility in Elizabethโ€™s eyes.

It seemed the lab wouldnโ€™t be boring from now on.

She decided sheโ€™d start bringing tea from home tomorrow.

The incident with the virus on the lab computer was significant. At best, it was an accident; at worst, it was a breach of confidentiality and data theft.

Paul stated firmly, โ€œWe must find the source.โ€

The IT technician replied, โ€œDonโ€™t worry. Even if you donโ€™t, the college will make sure it gets investigated.โ€

From the time the problem began to the full recovery of the data, they had spent the entire day dealing with it.

By the time all the details were handled, night had fallen. With the situation resolved, everyone left for home. Paul stayed behind at the lab to wrap things up, so Miranda went home alone.

Luckily, her place was closeโ€”just a few minutesโ€™ walk away. As soon as she got in, she threw herself onto the couch, stretched her body, and let out a contented sigh.

Her phone then buzzed with a WhatsApp notification. Barely able to keep her eyes open, she unlocked her phone to check. It was a message from Paul.

โ€œThanks for today. The source of the virus has been identified.โ€

Miranda rolled over and quickly sat up, replying, โ€œThat fast?โ€
