Chapter 0229

โ€œAlright,โ€ Miranda nodded. โ€œIโ€™ll send the address in the group chat. Iโ€™ll head out to buy groceries first, and you guys can come over when youโ€™re done.โ€

โ€œSounds good!โ€

Silas chimed in, โ€œShould we let Paul know?โ€

Sandy replied, โ€œYou do it.โ€

โ€œOkay.โ€ Silas took out his phone. โ€œIโ€™ll check if heโ€™s done with his class.โ€

At 2:00 pm, Miranda shut down her computer, tidied up her workstation, and quietly left. As soon as she stepped out, she ran into Paul.

โ€œGoing grocery shopping?โ€ he asked.

Miranda was slightly surprised. โ€œYou knew?โ€

โ€œYeah, Silas texted me. Come on, letโ€™s go.โ€

โ€œHuh?โ€

โ€œYouโ€™re heading to the supermarket, right?โ€ Paul asked. โ€œIโ€™ll drive you.โ€

โ€œAre you not busy today?โ€

โ€œNot too busy.โ€ He could be busy or not busy โ€“ it all depended on the person.

โ€œAlright then, thanks.โ€ Miranda had been considering calling a cab, but Paul showed up in a timely manner, saving her the cost.

As it turned out, Miranda not only saved money but also effort. Paul carried all the bags, big and small, throughout the entire shopping trip.

Miranda thought it was too much and tried to take some of the bags from him. But he stepped back, avoiding her outstretched hand. โ€œNo need, Iโ€™ve got it.โ€

Back at her place, Miranda put on an apron and got to work swiftly.

โ€œBy the way, do any of them have dietary restrictions?โ€ she remembered to ask.

Paul answered, โ€œSilas doesnโ€™t eat shrimp, but the others arenโ€™t picky.โ€

With that, he rolled up his sleeves and headed to the kitchen. โ€œIโ€™ll help.โ€

At 6:00 pm, Sandy, Silas, Bryan, and Elizabeth left the lab and headed to Mirandaโ€™s place.

โ€œDr. Quinton, did you inform Dr. Jefferson?โ€ Elizabeth suddenly asked.

She hadnโ€™t planned on coming, but when Silas mentioned that Paul had responded heโ€™d attend, she decided to join as well.

Bryan assumed his persuasion finally worked, thinking heโ€™d managed to convince Elizabeth to come along.

Silas said, โ€œI did notify him. He shouldโ€™ve finished class by now; not sure why he hasnโ€™t returned to the lab. But he did say heโ€™d come, so he definitely will โ€“ just not with us.โ€

Sandy remarked, โ€œOh? Heโ€™s really coming?โ€

Silas chuckled. โ€œWhat, you donโ€™t want him to come?โ€

Sandy clicked her tongue and said, โ€œDonโ€™t trap me like that. Itโ€™s just that when heโ€™s around, everyone feels pressured and canโ€™t really loosen up.โ€

โ€œAnd how loose do you want to get?โ€ Silas teased. โ€œLike a wild horse off its leash? With him around, it just helps to keep things grounded.โ€

โ€œPfft! Youโ€™re the wild horse!โ€ Sandy retorted playfully.

Passing by a flower shop, Sandy noticed some jasmine in full bloom and bought a bouquet as a gift.

Of course, Silas and Bryan didnโ€™t show up empty-handed, either. Each of them had brought a beautifully packaged fruit basket; it did not look cheap.

What surprised Miranda was that Elizabeth had also brought a small gift.

โ€œItโ€™s a perfume I blended myself. The top notes are citrus, and the fragrance is quite light afterward. I think youโ€™ll like it.โ€

โ€œThank you,โ€ Miranda said, slightly taken aback. Nonetheless, she still smiled as she accepted it.

Noticing Paulโ€™s absence, Sandy asked, โ€œCan someone call Dr. Jefferson? Why isnโ€™t he here yet?โ€

Mainly, she was worried his late arrival would delay dinner. The enticing aroma had already stirred her appetite; waiting even a minute longer felt torturous.

Silas pulled out his phone, ready to make the call. That was when Paul suddenly emerged from the kitchen, wearing an apron and carrying a pot of soup to the table.

The ease with which he moved made it clear this wasnโ€™t his first time doing this.

Silas was bewildered. โ€œHuh?โ€

Everyone else was just as stunned.
