Chapter 0228
"What kind of medicine?"
"The kind thatโฆ makes a manโฆ interestedโฆ"
There was silence on the other end for a couple of seconds before a sudden scoff. "Have you really fallen so low that you need to drug a man to get him going?"
Ingrid flushed with anger. "Just tell me if you can get it or not. The rest is none of your business!"
"Wait up."
With that, the person on the other side cut the call abruptly.
Ingrid then lay on her bed, staring at the ceiling. Even the ceiling in a wealthy familyโs house was decorated so beautifully.
After experiencing this kind of life, she never wanted to go back to how things were before. She had to win Hanselโs heart!
In the morning, Miranda freshened up, prepared her lunch, and then headed to the lab.
After a busy morning, she completed two sets of data and felt satisfied with her progress. She entered the data and saved it. Then, she grabbed her lunchbox from the fridge, ready to heat it up.
Sandy caught a whiff of the aroma from a distance. "Miranda, what are you eating? It smells so good. Is it takeout?"
It was lemon pepper wings, golden brown, with an aroma that filled the air. The garlic-roasted vegetables on the side were bright green, exuding a garlicky fragrance.
With the balanced mix of meat and vegetables and the appealing colors, it looked incredibly appetizing.
Miranda replied, "It's not takeout, I made it myself. I haven't touched these wings yetโdo you want to try some?"
On any other day, Sandy might have politely declined, but staring at those golden wings, she couldnโt resist and swallowed hard.
"Then I wonโt be shy!" She grabbed one right away.
The chicken wing was crispy and tender, cooked to perfection. "It's so good! Is this your own recipe?"
"Yeah."
Sandy wasnโt exaggerating. Her own cooking skills were average, and her family wasnโt great at it either.
Occasionally, theyโd eat out and find some good dishes. But most of the time, the ingredients werenโt fresh, and the seasoning was too strong.
Mirandaโs cooking was different. Besides using fresh ingredients, the balance of saltiness, crispiness, and tenderness was perfect. The way the food danced on her taste buds was just amazing.
Miranda chuckled in amusement. "Itโs not that impressive. They're just some normal dishes."
Sandy shook her head while speaking earnestly, "I'm not exaggerating. If your normal dishes are this good, I canโt imagine how amazing your special dishes would be!"
"Whatโs so amazing?" Bryanโs ears perked up at the mention of food, like a radar picking up signals. "Weโre talking about Mirandaโs cooking. Itโs incredible! I just realized weโve got a hidden chef in the lab!"
Miranda laughed. "Don't listen to Sandy; it's just average."
Bryan glanced at the plate of lemon pepper wings; they truly looked delicious.
"I just finished lunch, and I'm really full. Otherwise, I'd definitely grab one! So, Miranda, are you cooking tomorrow too?"
He was already full, and it didn't seem right to take food from Miranda's plate, but hearing Sandy rave about it made him curious.
"I'll probably make something different tomorrow."
"Ohโฆ" Bryan looked disappointed.
Sandy didnโt say anything, but the disappointment was clear on her face.
Miranda laughed. "Actually, I've been here in the lab for a while now, and everyone's been so helpful. I haven't properly treated you all to a meal yet. How about today? It's Friday, and we have the day off tomorrow."
"After work, we can either eat out or you can come to my placeโฆ"
"Your place! Your place!" Sandy jumped in quickly, as if afraid Miranda would change her mind. "Itโs settled then; weโll head over at six."
