Chapter 0254
After turning off the water and putting on a bathrobe, Hansel swiftly twisted the doorknob just as the shadow was about to press against the door. When he pulled it open, he bumped straight into Ingrid.
โWho let you in here?โ His eyes blazed with fury. โI told you this room was off-limits. Canโt you understand that? How dare you come in here?โ
The coldness emanating from him made her shiver. โI came to bring you a hangover remedy.โ
โDo you think I donโt know what youโre up to?โ Hansel smirked. He spat harshly, โDo you think youโre special just because we slept together a few times? Iโve seen countless women like you. With a mere gesture, I could have a dozen more like you crawling at my feet. What makes you any different? Even if you stood naked in front of me, I wouldnโt give you a second glance.โ He looked down at her with contempt. โDo you know why?โ
Ingrid trembled, covering her ears and shaking her head frantically. โNoโฆ I donโt want to hear it. Please stop.โ
โCanโt handle the truth? Then, donโt bother me. I find you disgusting. Get out!โ
Ingrid ran out of the room in tears. He then flipped over the tray she had brought.
That night, Ingrid stayed awake until dawn, her pillow soaked with tears. Hanselโs heartless and cruel demeanor haunted her mind. Why? She carried his child. Shouldnโt he treat her better? Or was he still fixated on Miranda and hoped to reconcile with her?
With that thought, Ingrid could no longer stay in bed. She jumped up and kicked over the bedside table in frustration.
Early in the morning, Martha had just finished tidying up the master bedroom, disgusted by the mess left on the floor. Then, she heard a loud noise from the adjacent room. What on earth is going on? This family is driving me crazy. Do they think workers donโt have any value? They should be the ones doing the dirty work.
Remembering the decent salary from the Johnsons, she managed to calm down. She headed to the adjacent bedroom door and listened carefully for any sounds.
โMs. York? Are you awake? Mrs. Johnson called and asked me to remind you to have breakfast, Ms. York?โ
There was no response, which puzzled Martha. She had heard noises earlier, but why was it suddenly so quiet? Was Ingrid planning something?
Just as Martha was about to leave, the door opened, and Ingridโs weak voice came through, โMartha, my stomach hurts.โ
Ingrid looked pale, clutching her stomach with cold sweat on her forehead. Martha panicked and took out her phone.
โWhatโs the number for the driver again?โ She slapped her forehead. โOh no! The driver is on leave today. Iโll call 911 now. Ms. York, hang in there.โ
Ingrid was both angry and anxious. โHow long will it take for the ambulance to arrive? My stomach hurts badly. Is something wrong?โ
Martha didnโt know, since she had never called an ambulance before. At that moment, another maid noticed the situation and immediately turned to get her phone. โIโll call Mrs. Johnson now.โ
The entire house sprang into action.
Half an hour later, the ambulance arrived. Ingrid was loaded into the vehicle, followed by two maids, while everyone sighed in relief. Finally, they could have some peace.
When Evelyn received the news, she rushed to the hospital. โWhere is my grandson? Is he okay? Is there any problem?โ She searched for a while before finding Ingrid and the doctor in the emergency room.
The doctor said, โAre you a relative of the patient? Weโve done an examination, and thereโs no major problem. Her emotions have been quite unstable, which can lead to false contractions. She needs to stay calm and keep her stress levels down.โ
