Chapter 0259
Ingrid furiously marched to her room and slammed the door shut.
Martha had just woken up the following morning and was still in her sleepwear when she heard Ingrid yelling from upstairs.
โBring me to the hospital now.โ
Marthaโs lips twitched. Last time, she had been flustered and genuinely worried. This time, though, she was more used to it. She pulled out her phone and called Dan. โHello, Mr. Rover. Sheโs got stomach pain again.โ
โGot it,โ he responded. โIโll drive the car over.โ
She then called Evelyn. โMrs. Johnson, itโs happening againโฆโ
Martha managed the whole process with calm expertise.
At the hospital, Evelyn stood in the hallway outside the ward with a stern expression. The doctor told her the same diagnosis as yesterday. โItโs nothing serious. The patient just needs more rest.โ
Evelyn had had enough. She stormed into the ward and scolded Ingrid, โWhy do you always need to be rushed to the hospital over nothing? What do you think this place is?
โWhatโs the point of having a brain if you donโt use it? Iโve never seen anyone as dramatic as you. What are you good at if you canโt even care for yourself during pregnancy?โ
She recalled the time when Miranda was around. Miranda would take care of Hansel and would never cause Evelyn any trouble. Whenever a problem arose, she would settle it herself. If she couldnโt, she would calmly discuss it with Evelyn.
Looking at Ingrid in the bed, Evelyn couldnโt help but find her more irritating than a pest. Every minor issue threw the whole household into chaos. It was as if the world had to revolve around her.
Who had time for that? Did Ingrid really think she was the center of the universe? What a joke!
Ingrid paid no attention to Evelynโs outburst. After being discharged that afternoon, she was back at it the following morning. She claimed she had stomach pain and demanded another hospital visit.
At first, Evelyn would still take Marthaโs calls for updates. But after a few of these calls, she told Martha, โHandle it yourself. You donโt need to call me every time. Just take care of it.โ
Martha was speechless and thought, โThis household would fall apart without me.โ
Evelyn finally had some peace. If Ingrid insisted on causing drama, Evelyn would leave it to someone else, as she had enough.
Winter celebrated her birthday on May 3rd. The gift Miranda prepared arrived just two days before the big day.
Chapter 0250
It was a diamond necklace from the โEternal Starlightโ collection designed by the renowned jeweler Cheryl Sterling. Winter had yearned for this piece for ages.
The necklace featured a deep blue diamond, which was the collectionโs highlight. The color blue symbolized hope.
It was the token of love between the main characters in a hit romance movie, "The Princess Diaries." As the movie gained popularity, the necklace quickly sold out everywhere. It was impossible to find in local stores, so Miranda had to buy it from Balmoria through a contact.
Winter eagerly asked Miranda to help her put it on. โOh my gosh! Itโs gorgeous. No wonder everyone wants to buy it. I often asked at the store, but they kept saying it was out of stock.โ
She was wearing a light blue, off-the-shoulder mermaid dress, which complemented the necklace perfectly. She looked so beautiful.
Evelyn had afternoon tea with a few close friends at a leisure club. They were on the large terrace, surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows. Soothing music played in the background, and they enjoyed various pastries.
Since Martha stopped updating her on Ingridโs situation, everything seemed brighter. Sometimes, she couldnโt help but wonder if insisting on keeping Ingridโs baby was the right decision.
