Evelyn knew Hansel didn’t want to keep Ingrid’s baby.

Moreover, Richard wasn’t aware of the matter, and she was reluctant to tell him. She had a nagging feeling that he wouldn’t support her decision to keep the baby. After all, Richard and Hansel were both cold-hearted, each more ruthless than the other.

Given how things had turned out, she figured asking Ingrid to terminate the pregnancy was out of the question. So, Evelyn had no choice but to accept it.

“Oh, Mrs. Kensington, I heard your daughter-in-law is expecting twins.”

“Yes, I just found out about it. They waited until after the first trimester to tell me and claimed they wanted it to be a surprise. And it was!” Wright laughed.

“Congratulations! My son Frederick doesn’t even have a girlfriend yet, so I have no idea when I’ll become a grandmother. Mrs. Johnson, isn’t your son the same age as my son? Does he have a girlfriend?”

Evelyn smiled and said, “Not yet. He’s always busy with his small company. Wouldn’t it be better for him to come home and take over the family business?”

“Mrs. Johnson, you’re being modest. Your son’s company isn’t small at all. It’s a listed company.”

Evelyn raised her eyebrow smugly and said, “It’s hardly worth mentioning. After all, it’s just a small-time venture.”

Ava sighed and said, “My son Benjamin isn’t interested in starting a business. Now that his wife is expecting, he’s content with family life and less motivated to pursue anything else.

“I can’t rely on him, so I’m pinning my hopes on those two little grandbabies to make me proud in the future.”

“How can you depend on that? They’re still fetuses.”

With that, everyone laughed.

Ava replied, “You might not know this, but research abroad shows that even embryos start picking up new knowledge. There’s a saying that you must give kids a head start from the beginning.

“I’ve signed my daughter-in-law up for the best prenatal class around. It’s beneficial for both her and the baby. I attended a few sessions, and they’re definitely different. They focus on improving the mother and steadily influencing the fetus.”

“Really? The mother needs to improve, too?”

Ava retorted, “Of course! How can a less capable mother have a competent child?”

That remark seemed casual, but Evelyn’s eyes betrayed a sudden spark of interest. Once she got home from the gathering, she pondered deeply on the couch.

She waved at Gary and said, “Use the contact information on this business card to inquire about the course. If everything is fine, sign Ingrid up. I’ll cover the cost. Don’t let Richard know, got it?”

Gary knew about Ingrid’s pregnancy. When he saw the Starborn Prenatal Wellness Studio card, he understood what was happening.

Half an hour later, he reported, “The course is confirmed. I already signed Ms. York up.”

“Good.” Evelyn picked up her phone and called Ingrid.

After a short wait, the call was answered. “Hello? Who’s this?”

Evelyn frowned upon hearing her tone. She was even more upset that her phone number wasn’t saved in Ingrid’s contacts. “It’s me,” she said while taking a deep breath to stay calm.

Ingrid replied, “Oh, Mrs. Johnson. I’m sorry, I didn’t see the caller ID. How can I help you?”

“I’ve signed you up for a prenatal class starting tomorrow,” Evelyn informed her. “Don’t worry about it. Just think of it as a regular gathering. It’s just a chance to chat and do fun activities like flower arranging and tea tasting."
